Okay, so I was annoyed as anybody when I got the news he's putting out another game for money reasons (even deleted my post over it) but the characters there to admittedly look pretty hot.

Now I hope this is actually a full fucking game. It's supposed to be smaller in size to help pay for DBA, right?

Actually out of curiosity, is this even going to pay for DBA at this point? Dude apparently said he's having trouble paying his bills and had to sell his game collection (Fuck me how you get $1800+ a month and need to sell your items to get by) but if patron money goes into bills, is he going to magically just use this money to live comfortably while Skullgear works on the game (which is apparently just two guys?) and for how long will that go on if DBA has been on hiatus for 2 years?

Not trying to be an ass, I'm just struggling to make sense of it all.

Unsolicited advice from a long-time fan

ONI if you're reading this, I strongly suggest you find a job that pays your bills and develop games in your free time. (Maybe you already do, I'm just guessing here). Relying on Patreon and one payout from a game won't support you or your family for long. You need a sustainable balance.

I am hopeful and believe you can do it, but I don't think Lust Planet will solve your problems. It may help, but you need long term stability to get DBA out. Not a one-time payout. Take care of yourself and your family, then work on games because you want to, not because you have to.

That said I am very excited to see the game and hopeful for the future of DBA afterwards.

Its easy to makes points without understand the problems and struggle, DBA is a project with no guide sheet, they were making the game has they were developing, so for them to make the updates every 3-5 months without having to look back and remake stuff, they would have to take the time off to plan the story for each char, get a structure of the feature the game its gonna have and for the dimension the game its suppose to be its not easy, their patreons are aware of everything its not like the devs were hidding the problems.

Their new game for what i understood its going to be full game that is why the release to be set to 2025, they not wasting time cause they been upgrading engine and create assets, so its not time wasted, but sadly they need income for both devs to be able to work full time, that is why making a new game with a plan can work and possibly give them the income they need.

Yup, these are my thoughts exactly. The plan sounds fine on paper but honestly is insanely unrealistic. According to his public post he'll use the money to FINISH DBA, and some things about that don't add up:

For one thing, the money earned will most definitely not be substantial. It's a game that will be easy to finish, and I sincerely doubt they'll be charging more than 15 USD for it. You can buy actual full length porn indie games like FlipWitch for 15, so a short game that has less content than DBA is definitely not going to go for too much.

And if DBA COULD have been finished with a budget, why in the world did he wait until going bankrupt to actually CARE to finish it? To any that don't remember, for the past 2 years they've been posting nothing but engine "updates", small details that should be considered fluff like cloud shadows and the animation of the world. Story updates were scarce and only ever hinted. And there were no public/patreon update releases. Now my memory on this is fuzzy but Oni claimed they've been withholding updates so they have content on their Steam release.

Despite that, it makes absolutely no sense to withhold update releases when most if not all of your patrons are literally giving you money to get early access to your game. What did this idiot thing would happen? People will just give money for nothing? So the only thing I can think of is they haven't been working on the game.

So with that in mind, what will a meager budget do for DBA? Imagine if the game sells a thousand copies at 10 USD, so he'll have 10K, and then what? How do we know that the money will actually go into DBA and they won't piss it on "engine updates"?

Lastly, the fact that they have the money to make this new game makes no sense when they're going bankrupt.

I still don't see the purpose of working full time for a whole year to release a game will magically give them more income then just working on a game that already exists that already has a fanbase. Do they think they are going to make big bank off this then they can continue to work on DBA? well good luck with that

The DBA game was great because the content and characters were actually relatable. Like doing a sleepover at your nerd buddy, accidentally meeting his mom at night, etc. Things which could happen just like that in real life.

In a sense, there are hundreds of games like this, but DBA is one of the very few ones who did this right.



While the whole space / sci-fi topic usually just shows that authors have no actual good ideas for their story and setting. You already know that it's just about unrealistic people we don't care about having random sex in competely unrealistic situations.

There are hundreds of games like this, and none of them have ever interested me. Main reason is that sex is something very natural and realistic, while the whole sci-fi scenario is just too weird to create a setting for a good sex story.



Space suits, aliens... instead of high school girls in miniskirts, and sex with the cousin on the countryside?

One thing the dev should be aware of, is the fact that DBA is violating several Patreon guidelines, which would result in an instant shutdown of this account. The game contains unambiguous incest, and there is no plausible deniability about the MC's cousin not being designed as clearly underage. And many other characters are probably closer to being 16 than 20. In particular the original scenes with the sister, striking on both accounts.


As already explained several times, the game would also have no chance on Steam, because Steam already banned games from their store just because the story took place in a place called "school" (with students clearly being 18+), or because they depicted voluptuous women in japanese school uniforms.

Of course, Steam does officially not ban anything conforming to US law, but this seems to be the pattern behind their actions.


In short, he must know that he cannot put DBA on Steam without rewriting and redrawing everything. And one report on Patreon, and it is gone there as well.

Thus it may not be completely unlikely that the dev actually wants DBA to silently disappear, while keeping his established account, and without further drawing the ire of the Patron-Steam inquisition.

So their answer to not getting enough money is to put the game that everyone is waiting for on hold, and make a new game? You can't just, and I'm just spitballing here... put a half update out for DBA? Surely after almost 2 years you have half the game done right?... Not many people are willing to sponsor a game that they have gotten nothing out of for years. I previously pledged to this game and had to call it after a couple bad updates and then no updates... And the Halloween and Christmas stuff was a joke, just put that effort into making the game.

They have every excuse in the world for not finishing the damn game. And I'm sorry, so you were broke and had to sell all your stuff, and yet, you were doing things like, adding weather, fixing lighting positions, adding a ladder mechanic... yeah I can see why you went broke Even the Melissa/Amy rework (which was shit) was unnecessary. Instead of doing that, just add scenes in between to make it make more sense, or continue their story. Don't fucking "rework" what was already fine.

I don't even understand, Planet Lust is magically going to make them more money? How? I'm willing to pay for DBA update, but not willing to pay for Planet Lust, whatever the fuck that is. Seems like the devs did this to themselves. Even if Planet Lust earns them a few extra dollars, when DBA is released, do they think they're going to be millionaires selling it at $20 maybe? More likely $10-15 and most will buy on sale for $5 during a steam sale.

Hopefully they'll learn that making a game first as a priority makes no sense when your audience wants to play a porn game. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I wanted to play an actually good game, I'd go play the millions of games out there which do a much better job of it. DBA minigames are equivalent of flash games back in the early 2000's. They could have been the best for being a porn game dev with a good environment and story. Once they got the money from that, they could have moved on to making just a regular game if they wanted and see how that went. Now they'll never know.
