The DBA Halloween 2023 version has a file called dandy_script.dll in Data/Bin that can be modified with a Hex editor. I was able to get the dynamic library to fail to load, which causes a previously unseen UI button in the main menu to appear called "editor." I don't see any discussion about this hidden editor feature. I can't get the button to do anything, but somebody more experienced than me probably could.
I found a way to change what the buttons on the main menu do, for example I could make the Gallery button open up the Options menu, I tried changing the options button to act as if it was the editor button but all it does is fade to a black screen, I'll keep looking into this though.

another dead body in the water
Sort of but not quite. Devs basically went bankrupt and have been working on a new game for the last 9 months called "Planet Lust" that they're planning on completing and publishing to help fund DBA. They're treating DBA as a bit of a passion project that they're not compromising on, so it's not dead yet but it really depends on how well Planet Lust does.

Planet Lust is a lot smaller and less ambitious of a game, but they decided it'd be better to do that than to stop game dev entirely and shelf DBA for the unforeseeable future. This game's pretty damn unique with its polish, art direction, and overall vibes so hopefully it can be a bit less stressful once they have something other than Patreon and savings keeping them afloat

That's the official press release.

In reality, the dev simply didn't work on the game for several years. Like when it took him about a year to announce some new background billboards, or teaser pics with alternate hair color, or cloud shadow fx or something. And then he made those halloween and christmas spinoffs instead of an update for DBA.

And this could be funny and relatable, like that guy studying sociology for 15 years because he spends all his time at campus smoking weed, playing games and sleeping in until the afternoon. And then he's like "lol don't stress me bro" when you ask him if he's ever gonna finish what he's actually there for.

But then you realize that games like this have been in "production" for a time longer than the entire WW2 era - and only really naive, stupid, or desperate people still expect them to ever get finished in the state you expected them to be finished in when you played their first couple of updates.

Six and a half years ago.

They made two of the biggest rookie mistakes in game development: Being too ambitious and listening too much to people.

1. Being too ambitious: this game runs on their own engine (or at least that's how they advertised it), in fact it was supposed to be a showcase for their engine, but it's completely unnecessary since you can get the same results but much faster and easier with Unreal or Unity, hell, even Godot and Game Maker can handle that level of 2.5D.

2. Listening too much: they kept changing things in the game to please certain small groups of people wasting time and effort on art, animation, writing and coding that would never be used again, the changes even got them in trouble with steam.

Yeah, I fully agree with your statement. Any project should have a clear vision of the final result and focus on that instead. Basically, make an MVP (Most Viable Product) and after having the full main story, release updates, new side quests.

But notice that in here, some authors/devs get too ambitious, adding more and more content without any fully finishing anything. And games just sort of end up in limbo.
If your small team or you alone are developing a game that takes more time than GTA6 without any goal and deadline, then something is really wrong with your approach. Not every game can be Star Citizen or should be.

Have you tried to change talking sprites in the hex editor?

For me, this game here is the best 2D game with this theme. DatingSim has difficulties and is difficult. The game has puzzles. It has a campaign so you can relate to the characters little by little. It's a complete game. The characters are well made and elaborate. The mother-son incest is captivating. The whole story... It even caught on in an era that was almost uncensored in Patron games. The creator was lucky, of course. There's also incest with his little sister, his aunt, etc., as well as other characters. The characters in this game are all well made. The game is very well made in his style. In my ranking of 2D games, this is number one. It's a shame that the creator abandoned it and didn't have a remake. How will this work end up like this? It's a shame that a game of this level couldn't stay like this.

Too bad it's not incest (Mother and son or sister maybe or an aunt, I don't know) there's no theme there, but it's a good hentai game. I haven't played it yet, but I've seen that it's very promising. I like the look and theme of this farm style.I only play games with incest, especially mother and son, which is what I love and I like to interpret and imagine myself being the son... or with incest with a sister, preferably an older sister or aunt. That's why I said that this one with all this in 2D is the best farm game that exists, especially with mother and son incest, among others.

You do realize that was bullshit, right?
In what world of logic do you have to make a indie game from scratch to sell ,so that you can make money to continue making a indie game that's already ongoing? When you're getting thousands in sub revenue, monthly. Please realize you're getting played.
