I’d been wondering why I hadn’t seen/heard of anything DBA’s recently. Didn’t know ONI put it in ice due to “funding issues”. But yeah logically speaking it doesn’t make sense to make another game to fund a yet already popular work in progress.

Currently this game has an “abandoned” tag which is a shame ‘cos it’s great for a WIP. The retro feel coupled with the quirky music & colour scheme made for a fun & vibrant game (with some rather interesting mystery elements to it).

I hope Oni decides to go back to working on it soon ‘cos I miss playing this (& I’d like to know how it ends). Now I don’t know about y’all but I’m not really that big on that other game “Planet Lust”. So far it’s not that interesting compared to DBA.

Plus, as I said earlier, it’s seems extremely contradictory to start a new game when you’ve yet to finish your other one even if it’s to secure some form of finance but I’m not the one in charge of the creative direction of this project so i can’t really do anything…

Regardless of personal feelings towards this project, in general it’d be a massive waste to leave this abandoned with all the effort put into it (that’s my main point).

I mean it kind of makes sense. They want to release a full game so people can buy on different platforms like steam or itch all while making money on patreon and subscribestar. There are multiple people on the dev team right? Or is it just two? I think they had a lot already planned out for this game so they know it's going to take them a good while to get it even close to finished with it. We just need to have hope my friends :HideThePain:

This guy really managed to drop from $3,000 a month to $1,000, and the whole Planet Lust crap is just a scam.

Really bitter. One of the few games that had incredible potential and was simply different. It's logical that you can't make a living off of something like that right away.

yep, anyone with a brain knew that instead of steadily working on a game that's good and give people what they want in each update to drop it for year(s) to making a worse game and trying to complete it fast and release it on steam for a lot of sales? yeah that's not how it works and on top of that he said he will release it in chapters? yeah no one wants that.

its really a shame. one of, if not the best games on this site left behind bc the developer decided somehow making a new game (which is much worse) would be smarter than updating this game
the worst part? the next update was almost done. like... 90% there... and it was supposed to be the biggest update we have gotten. if they dropped the update, and then moved games? sure! but they spent a year making us wait for a single update - just to abandon it.

Any sane person can tell him what he was doing was NOT a good idea, is he that stupid?
If he took polls and actually released small updates of characters/quests people wanted not focused on BIG STEAM money "this is more than a porn game DBA is going to be a great platformer!" or whatever the hell he called it he probably could've been making $5k a month and releasing updates every 3 months

Pessimism is warranted after the last update was around two years ago and, IIRC, removed more than it added and made the writing far worse. I'm still spitefully hopeful darn it.

In all fairness, the devs of DBA had stated that they were in a very bad position, economically speaking, (or at leas one of them) so much that resorted to sell their stuff to keep going, however you could only stretch things up to a certain degree before everything comes apart, so they agreed on put everything on hold / backburner, and develop a game small enough to no make a burning hole on their every so dwindled finances, and good enough to make some revenue from Steam platform sales, and if the revenue was good enough they would resume DBA development

AFAIK they were still developing the game, but I've been out of the loop for a while, so I don't how everything is going on
