I do feel like there's much more to explore in DMD and after so much quality buildup it would be a shame to end it prematurely or to rush the ending. Surely the setbacks in development don't help, like the patreon ban.
One can only hope we'll see many more chapters in the future.

Unless that's a point in time for their relationship where they are understandably apart (i.e., before a possible future reconciliation after friction or from a mutual understanding that she will try to meet the world head-on and see how that works out), there would have to be some sort of terrific dynamics at play to make her seem compelling within a new environment and among a (somewhat?) different crowd, IMHO. I would be willing to bet that many current players are invested in her well-being and the immense bond with MC that got her to this point, even if she understandably needs more room to grow as she sees fit

Honestly, I'd prefer not to see her used as a shiny lure in future works, however she might meander through MrDots' future productions. Let her go through life's ups and downs and not even as a primary character, as seems appropriate: but, give her a chance to honestly see where she wants to go and never completely lose her sense of what and who helped get her there.

Thinking about my post a couple back ... if MrDots is kicking the tires of Subscribestar but DMD as a game will cease after Chapter 2 ends this year, then is it merely a backup in case Patreon goes nuts? Because, as I anticipated above and you said: any desire to bring D and/or her timeline peers into a post-Melody game will necessarily preclude her father from being in an intimate relationship with her (or perhaps even being in the same story, just to be safe). So, one aspect of what makes DMD constantly on the edge will be gone and something will need to take its place if any characters are repurposed.

Cynically, I could offer that placing DMD at Subscribestar feels a bit like bait-and-switch, as DMD has not many installments left. Those editions could have been supported by his other per-installment payment means, so I now see Subscribestar as:

1. A way to gain more easily planned revenue for the final year of DMD, as many fans are excited to see a subscription platform being used once again (i.e., feels like Patreon, etc.)

2. A test as their future Patreon backup or to enable secondary subscriptions (e.g., as Agent Red Girl has done since her recent Patreon scare).

But, it's apparently not a platform for growth of DMD as its own game.

I feel that something should be mentioned on the DMD subscription page to make it clear that the game is in its final chapter, at the very least.

Do we dare hope he will go back to a monthly update schedule or will a new project forever consign it to a 3 month cycle?

Well, they'll need something on Patreon to replace Melody, or all their Patreon income dries up. I'd expect the same kind of thing to keep going - 2 months for the new project, 1 month for DMD.

No idea yet when exactly Melody will end. I think one hope is both Melody and DMD come to a conclusion around the same time so the third project runs alone. Btw, the third project (except for DMD and Melody character tie-ins) will be genesis 8 models which opens up some textures etc that MDots has not been able to use with the Genesis 3 models. Hoping there is a demonstrable upgrade in quality.

I suppose that makes the sense of moving Chapter 2 to an engaging ending as even more of an imperative, then.

This also further solidies the notion I offered that Subscribestar is apparently not intended to help grow DMD, but was to test other (likely reasonable) business support goals.
