There's no such thing as too little, too late if the parent & child are willling to let bygones be bygones. In many cases, parents are in very crappy life situations. They feel that their chld shouldn't suffer with them if they can find someone to give the child a better life. Then there are some guys who suffered "baby mamma drama." There's been Plenty of females who got pregnant & never told the fathers and Lie to the child or children, saying that their father was dead. It depends on the circumstance. I've seen plenty of them in my LE days. Like Most things in this world, there's a lot more grey areas in the world than just black & white. And IIRC, Martin never explained why he was separated from his offspring.

never, sound and music in settings are just extras and don't do anything and removing those is extra not that easy extra work. in sunshine love there is music.
