Your update ratio is incorrect. Rather than monthly, think about the amount of yearly updates : Melody has 8 ; DMD has 4. So, Melody has twice as many, not three times as many.
Many of us speculated in the thread just after 0.18 that the two projects could be given an equal portion of updates. This notion was flatly rejected, not doable, by a dev-teamer.
Until May 2018, no patron paid a pledge in a calendar month without receiving an update (the January 2018 update arrived in February off-Patreon). Patrons who were there supporting Melody seem to have not taken this well. As a sop, they were promised extra, special renders every month going forward. These Melody-players would predictably be even more pissed off if their total updates would be even further reduced.
I believe DMD does more business, at present, than Melody. But this is not primarily because of BMAC. Many patrons, most probably top-tier ones, are funding the studio but supporting DMD.
Without their support, Melody would be shown to be semi-popular at best.
Another very important consideration is that Melody figures to finish BEFORE DMD at the present update ratios. So, DMD can be used to transition the 3rd Patreon project. Without DMD to do this, that project would surely be launched with far fewer patrons.

Logically they have to shift from Patreon very soon, it kills of creativity, and since the start of 2018 their numbers have been declining. Now since his revenue is kept secret from Patreon, we do not know the actual shifts from Month-to-Month (people shifting to lower tiers).

Also it's interesting to note, that so far this year, whenever a new DMD update came out, their Patreon numbers also skyrocketed, while their Melody releases does not bring in new supporters.

Sadly currently BMAC has very limited reporting.

Now if we would just compare the sheer numbers they would come out at around 60% Patreon - 40% BMAC however, considering the cut and the extra Patreon currently takes, and if I would account the burst of patrons during a DMD release, the revised numbers are pretty much 50-50 currently.

Now the main issue MrDots previously said is that they do not see any Patreon competitor, which is starting to shift as

I can just hope, but if MrDots is truly the financial genius people say he is, then he already sees this, and will do the right call. He has a growing team, and has to give more attention to their real money maker.

Most likely due to this reason I do not think, that they will end DMD at chapter 3 unless their 3rd project next year will blow up.

But these are jut speculations, I do not know the guy, but he does seem clever considering he knew how to hide their public data on their Domains and use whoisguard.

I think Mr. Dots went overboard early on with too many characters and plot threads, a lot of characters and proposed routes (like sharing D with other men) probably won't get resolved in favor of Elena and D getting a satisfying ending. Ambition is a great thing but you gotta know your limits. I'm sure it sucks for both him and us to have used several updates to set up those characters and not be able to see it all to fruition. Because in hindsight we could have gotten even more time with D and Elena instead of the side characters.

I think at this point we'll get a threesome with D and Elena and then a happily ever after ending. It's good because at least the main characters get closure, but it's really too bad this whole thing with patreon had to happen because it seemed like after D losing her virginity, it was going to open all sorts of group sex opportunities with the Chapter 1 characters. Really would have liked to see daddy and daughter work out there issues with Rachel through some sexual healing.

I don't know if anyone cares but, I texted my old IT guy, who is now in Pittsburgh running his own tech/marketing business between there and NYC, about creating an adult Patreon alternative. He sent me a fairly detailed outline of what it would take.

To do it right, it’d probably be like 1-2 months of all the business setup, legalese, back and forth, marketing planning (between lawyer and founders - 3-5k). 3-6 months to build out with a programmer and designer working together (on the order of 10-15k/month). Then some level of marketing budget to get the word out. You’d need to figure out financial projections on what the cost of loss until sustainability looks like. In general projects like that can be 50-100k upstart pretty quick.

3 months to build would be fast if things are well planned and understood. I say up to 6 because sh*t happens and ideas change as the things come up.

So while doable way out of most people's price range and hard to find investors in something that is porn based. If for no other reason than laws have been changed to prosecute websites for basically anything seen as illegal activity and that scares off money. Only having adult games might not be enough of a financial turn around to make it super profitable.

Yea, at least every other month would be more fair. But my own speculation from reading comments from Mrdots team member Hearsz is that they wanted to cancel DMD, but when they saw how much money they got from BMC and how many Patreons left at first(they lost 1600 Patreons) they continued the game, I think thats also why they have gone back and forth, saying they will or will not finish the game several times. I have a very hard time beliving the game will be finished with this release cycle tho, it would take years, but we'll see, I'm just happy for any update we can get and try to support them any way I can.:noexpression:

Actually, given the present release cycle and the story progression speed-up of the two off-Patreon updates, DMD should easily be completed. But with 2 Chapters, rather than 3.
Essentially, these are two different games. Too many people seem fixated on the early DMD game plans before the ban. The DMD game after the ban has not only changed, as you rightly note, but is ever-changing. The fact that the slow-burn loss of virginity by D is almost certainly happening no later than 0.21 (before the ban, I was guessing 0.27-0.29) is the key indicator. DMD is being shortened in order to finish the game.

Actualy even before the Patreon ban I can't see the sex happen that later.Especialy 0.29.That will mean ch.2 must be at least 15 updates.Through ch.1 we get 1 corruption level per 2 updates.Now we at level 9 and 0.18.Following your idea sex with D will be at l.14 corruption.And that will leave only 4 more levels for ch.3 and way too many fetishes.
Before Patreon mess I was thinking no later than 0.25.Now probably 0.21-0.22.

No. When I say 0.27-0.29, it was knowing that Chapter 2 would be 12-14 updates. I thought the loss of virginity would be early Chapter 3. After the fiasco, transferring Chapter 1 points to Chapter 2, many players would have dreaded going through that again for Chapter 3. Along with the fact that the "payoff", D's virginity, was lost in Chapter 2 would have been more than enough reasons for many players to abandon further updates of DMD. To keep them interested, the studio just postponed the pay-off to Chapter 3.
The corruption flower is a big joke, a flawed concept. DMD, up to 0.16, has not been like a rocket ascending higher and higher, or the flower constantly darkening. DMD was two steps forward, one step back most of the time.
The corruption flower belongs to the DMD-on-Patreon. Very slow, but steady, progress, DMD-off-Patreon has a far different story rhythm. The corruption petals could be darkened two or three per update. Whoever thinks this isn't plausible, I'd say : a dev creates reality, he doesn't follow it.

You know there was a conversation around 0.0.4 how longer will be the game.Back then we were at level 1 corruption and some math genius said we have to wait 6-7 years before the end of DmD.

and level 18 doesn't mean game is over.Obviously.
