But
@Penfold Mole is correct in stating that they're also now obsolete as the free standalone versions have been released.
As one of those ignored Linux users, I can tell you that the web based versions aren't without their own problems. The Chrome version runs like garbage. The Firefox version also tends to have issues (opening animation doesn't load so the game won't start unless you hit ESC to skip it... which I discovered by accident in a fit of frustration), but is at least playable once you get over those hurdles. But none run as well as native versions, which are always preferable.
And just to note, almost all Ren'Py games come with native Linux support "out of the box".
And those that don't, for some odd reason, can almost always be easily patched by copying over the lib/ folder and launch script from a game that does and simply renaming the lib and launch script to the name of the game.
For us, who are used to being ignored by folks looking to only serve the "bigger market", we're generally happy for any support, even if it's not perfect. If we're running Linux, we're usually smart enough to work around the rough edges, or provide a bug report for a simple fix.
Humorously I was able to solve some of these games more easily BECAUSE of the garbage performance on Chrome when I was first forced to play the web version due to lack of native support.
The game essentially ran in slow motion, so I was able to very easily dominate the arcade game, and the dishwasher puzzle, etc... (the dishwasher puzzle still took me until the last second, but all the other puzzles/games were finished with massive time to spare. I had to intentionally kill myself in the video game after awhile.)
