Game says on hold. that means dev explicitly stated the game development is halted for now.
unlike abandoned tag which can apply to games where dev did not explicitly state as such
The developer posted on Patron that they dropped from 700 subscribers to about 450. Makes me concerned that this game will be left behind. They do have a Steam developer account but Dawn of Malice is not on it. Tamas Awakening is for sale and The Necromancer Arises is "Coming soon".
I wish they would at least add Dawn of Malice as "Coming soon" as what I have gathered from other porn game developers that the more people wishlist games that are not yet even available to buy helps promote games from the same developer/publisher that are available to buy.
Of course they should finish up a second game (is Dawn of Malice the closest to completion of their other projects?) and get that available to buy to get another source of cash coming in. If you did on "Early Access" availability for a game you could have it be delayed after those on Patron to give an incentive for subscribing.

Yes. It's not "being called Family Breeding" now. Family Breeding is a remake, so it's a different game.

Family Breeding is a 2D hand-drawn visual novel with top-notch artwork where you play as a young man living together with four women. Your mother, your sister, your aunt and your cousin.
Your family has a slightly different tradition. It's customary for the women of the family, when they come of age, to have their first pregnancy with the unmarried man of the family, which in this case is you.
Living with four women, it's hard to resist temptation. Enjoy the adventure and have fun in "Family Breeding".

Sad to hear about what happened. A post or something should be made to clear up the confusion for everybody anticipating the release. I know the dev can't go in depth, but a lot of people seem lost about what's going on.
To put it simply, it seems this game can't and won't be released due to legal reasons. Obviously, the dev won't go into detail because of this. The game "Family Breeding" is a remake of this game which can and will be released. Family Breeding will probably redact the content that caused the dev legal trouble, if that was the issue. To compensate, I'd assume the dev is adding content that was unplanned for Dawn of Malice and adding it to Family Breeding. Overall, a shitty situation made it so this game can't be released and has to be remade under a different title.
Also, some have asked about the Patreon. Seems it was banned. They have a new Patreon for their game "Rise of the Outcast Hero", and a Subscribestar for their other stuff. If I had to guess, this was done because Patreon didn't want games with incestuous themes in them. Even if those themes were indirect.

This game on-hold or abandoned though? Saw its also removed/replaced on your website with the new Family one.
Dawn of Malice has been abandoned. According to Whiteleaf, this is due to legal issues with regards to releasing the game, so they are basically remaking the game under the new name Family Breeding with a new story and dialogues.

The story in this game was relatively interesting and original, especially for this genre. To see it killed off and be resurrected as just another game with a generic harem game factory generated plot is very disappointing.
Even more disappointing to see the trust the dev is losing with AVN supporters by taking their pledge dollars for months to create a game they want to see made, only to abandon it while supporters are literally paying for the game to be made. That they haven't been able to connect their supporters leaving in droves to them announcing abandoning the games they're being supported to develop is astounding. This game being abandoned is like if the CocaCola corporation decided to try to start selling Coke in a new country, and when the country says no they completely discontinued it despite it being their best selling product in the entire rest of the world. Most indie devs that publish straight to Steam aren't nearly as successful there as this one was on Patreon, and they threw that concrete income away to chase some nebulous shot at being an edge case on another platform, while working in a genre that platform is notoriously hostile toward.

well its Devs going to steam to suck valves dick for money and with how steam has got a stick up there asses on vague what can and cant be done in adult games or you get rejected so now adult stuff gets watered down a lot
