Hey! The mind control in this game is more of a mental influence, rather than full on control (so it's NOT something like standard hypnosis). It more speeds up a character's affinity towards you, rather than forcing them under your control immediately. I hope that answers your question!
So does it have a real "presence" in the game, or is it just an excuse to further along the more generic stuff? That's one of my biggest issues with mind control in these games, on both ends of the extremes. Games with instant domination that only exists to let you skip to a generic porn scene with no development, or games where the protagonist arbitrarily has some "charm" that's just a handwave explanation for why he's so popular with the ladies. I'm always looking for a game that actually focuses on showing how your influence affects the characters, and I'm never sure if people who say "it's not the instant-sex version" are referring to that, or simply saying it's irrelevant altogether.

It's definitely in the camp of showing "how" the influence affects the characters, with a major part of the first chapter exploring how different people react to it.

It's kinda fixed and kinda not. There is no visible error now but on older saves choker is stuck in inventory forever.
