You can resolve this by using emmissive lights rather than spotlights. You can see my earlier post as linked below to see method / results.

Edit - Further Notes:
The light emitted from spotlights has a single origin hence will make hard shadows. Emmissive surfaces however project light in every direction from every point on their surface. If you want a reasonably harsh shadow use a smaller emmission surface with higher intensity. If you want a softer shadow, use a larger surface with a lower intensity.
Thank you ! I will try it !
Our experience was that in Daz, light is the hardest thing to master. To help us we studied books on photography light and television lighting (relevant because TV is still a 2D medium and the tricks apply here).

80% of the realism in a scene will come from lighting. It will add contours, define textures, and provide all the visual cues the eyes needs to process the image. It's powerful stuff.

At the very least, learn a bit about a three light rig (Key, Fill, Backlight). You can do a lot just by mixing up these three lights with different angles and intensities. Totally worth the time!

Best of luck mate. Cheers!

Thank's man ! Yeah light is very important and very hard to understand at the same time. I'll check some video about the three lights rig, as you said.

[QUOTE = "Anus1974, post: 1169076, membre: 232984"] Merci! Je vais essayer !

Merci mec ! Oui, la lumière est très importante et très difficile à comprendre en même temps. Je vérifierai une vidéo sur le banc à trois feux, comme vous l'avez dit. [/ QUOTE]

mrci beaucoup je vais regarder de suite :)) merci encore

A 3 point setup can help, but you need to be careful with this setup as well. If a light is too bright or not bright enough, you're going to cast 3 shadows. I personally ditched using spotlights and use environment light sources. Like adding light sources to lights and windows if it is daytime.

As was already said, lighting is probably one of the hardest things to master in Daz. I'd put it in my top 3 for sure. The best way to learn is to try all the different methods and see what lighting works best for your scene. Good luck.

Been testing out different lights and lighting setups so decided I'd share what I have come up with. I know they need work. I swear lighting is the hardest to master...
1st one all I used was the auto headlamp feature
2nd I tried a 3 point light setup
3rd I used ghost lights
4th was another try at 3 point lighting w/o background

When lighting your scene you need three things but not necessarily three light sources:

1. At least one obvious light source to make it believable. It doesn't need to be a true emissive surface but you need something that the viewer's mind will associate with the light and you need the primary lighting in the scene to appear as if it is coming from that source. Outside this would be the sun, moon or just the sky itself on an overcast day for example. The source can be implied and out of the final image but it still needs to be evident that the light isn't just there and instead comes from something. The more clear it is to the viewer what that light source is the more real and image will feel.

2. What photographers call the "fill" light. This doesn't need to be bright and usually works best as a soft light with minimal or very soft shadows. The sole purpose of this light is to light the scene from the camera's perspective to make it bright enough to see what needs to be seen.

3. Highlights and/or shadows to enhance the texture and detail of the focal object in the image. This may be the primary light, it may be a "rim" light, it could simply be a brightly colored surface that reflects from, or emphasizes the specular surface of the focal object.

You do not need a three point light setup, in fact for some images you may explicitly not want a three point light since a single light source can produce more dramatic visuals. Here is an example with a single light source used for the render:

Photometric spotlights and point lights are very useful and work just as well, or sometimes far better than emissive surfaces. Just be mindful of reflections as even with the "render emitter" option turned off you may see the emitter in reflections.

My biggest warning if you're learning lights is to NOT rely on HDRI/IBL to do all of your lighting for you. It may work, it may not. Don't be afraid to use an additional light or two to correct the scene.

In the end make sure your lighting enhances the 3d nature of your scene, brings attention to whatever object you want the viewer to focus on and conveys the mood you are looking for. If you're lost, start with no lighting and add lights one at a time, if you add a light and it doesn't make the scene better don't keep it, try something else. I've done photography work for years and while I know that helps I still learn something new with almost every render I create and I still create renders that look like shit because of poor lighting. At least with DAZ... I CAN CONTROL THE SUN! muhahaha :)

... sorry

for beginners you could give advice
after watching a lot of video I have the impression that I miss plenty of files to work the lights
can you tell me which folder and the best to download

when I see what you can do I feel ridiculous but with a little help I could not :))

Honestly, this time I didn't do anything too complicated. I just wanted to make a simple image and nothing more.

You can remove the light sources from appearing in reflections by adjusting the cutout opacity to almost zero.

That's what we do with emmissives when we need lighting without reflection.

Or are you saying you can adjust a spot light's opacity to near zero?

I think we're talking about the same thing but it's possible there is a spotlight property I've been ignoring this whole time.

Couldn't agree with this more. When we finally ditched HDRI and learned how to do real lighting, our quality went up ten-fold.

Maybe this is easier...

Attached is a simple scene with a base G8 female in a simple pose. I've adjusted the render settings to eliminate the default background so the only lights you have to worry about are the lights in the named groups. It works best to switch the viewport mode to iray and the view to Camera 1.

Turn the group visibility on and off for the lights but only use one group at a time, turn the basic wall and floor on and off to see what effect that surface has on lighting. Render to see what it will really look like (it should be a fast render since it's very simple).

I threw this together very quickly so it's not perfect but it may do better to give you ideas than a google translated post :)

This is photometric lights only, no HDRI, no "ghost" lights, no emissive surfaces. It's as simple as I could keep it. Feel free to load in your favorite character and a few props but expect to have to change the lights since it's pretty quick and dirty this way.

If we want to get more involved somebody should create a thread in another forum rather than hijacking this one any more than we already have :)
