Glad to help! Didn't really know that about hdr, but I think it makes sense. Would be a good thing to keep in mind. Have you tried adding an emissive plane? Maybe having a "physical" mesh in the scene might make a difference. Not too familiar with the nuances of lighting, so this is mostly just a shot in the dark.Thank's for that elaborate answer! I will try and look up the tutorial you are talking about. I did some Googling, and you may be on to something about the hdri in the second picture. There is indeed an hdri - very well spotted! And that hdri cound be why the chrome is showing. I saw another post where someone said that if there is no hdri there is nothing to reflect in the chrome and thus it becomes black. Even if I add a spotlight right in front of the exhaust it's still just black.

Just a note, I was wrong about which character asset she was (I suppose she could have been based on a Victoria model), but I found another old render I did back then, around 2003 sometime and I remembered her name, her asset was named "Pretty Baby", available on Daz3D at the time for Poser. I found another render of her I did 20 years ago (still hard to believe it was that long ago) and I had named the file after the asset name "Pretty Baby"... loved this character back then, this was some of the best you could get for Poser. I can't even imagine what sort of video card and PC I had back in 2003! heheh...One of my earliest renders I did with one of my first Daz3D models I ever purchased from them. This is from 2003, it's the Victoria 2 model rendered using, I think, Poser 3 software (which at the time, there was no Daz Studio, they sold 3D models for Poser)... I just found this while browsing through some old file... hard to believe this was from 20 years ago! wow... it was originally a 1024x768 image, mostly that wood background as a desktop background image. I think the hair was from GoldTassel, who I think may still sell items for Daz Studio. Always loved his hair products.
