Went into this expecting nothing, came out with heartstrings pulled and LiL PTSD with the free soundtrack selection from what appears to be a first work from the Dev team. Easy 5/5 imo. A subversively well-written short with a worthwhile story for the time spent.
damn ending 2 is trash. imagine after a sugargirl gives you 1m, you tell her because this other girl confessed to me, you need to leave out of our lives.
Clerk girl is worth it... Especially in the ending where you do evil, eat shit in a public bathroom, are still in crippling debt, and despite that she still takes care of you...
oh and, the balcony was never used. I was hoping our MC would jump from that after being unable to pay the debt, but the devs probably chickened out at the last minute.
For sure. The balcony is way to large to have just hosted one scene. I imagine an early rooftop ending was probably cut on account of this being the developer's first work, and presumably not wanting to cause controversy. Especially with how it is accessible early on despite other areas of the map being locked. The atmosphere and dialogue in the bad routes also reminded me of that old Flash game, One Chance.
Except... The protagonist REALLY fucking sucks. You can't relate to this fucking loser at all [...] And he treats his co-worker like trash on a low Justice run, when she obviously likes him a lot [...]
I liked it. It caught me off guard and subverted my expectations. It almost sounded like how a real, depressed and despondent person would react in a situation where they assume their choices are worthless at that point, and they are just apathetic to the people who care about them. A game with lesser dialogue would probably write their protagonist in a boring, apologetic state, trying to justify their actions when they are undoubtedly in the moral wrong already. Pretty unexpected and not just cartoonishly evil, from what otherwise would be expected from a throwaway porn game.
