Ok, dude contradicts himself - he says the story is already written, but then admits he needs to rework and "reintegrate" a major plot element. I mean, it was a core event, right? To me, it looks like there is no clear vision of where his story is going or how his characters interact. Dev's just going with the flow.
And that’s the least trustworthy kind of Dev when it comes to long-term support (based on my experience). After the next release, players will demand something else, what then - another "re-integration"? Been there, seen that.

Anyway, - questionable 1st impression, but that's just my humble opinion.

This seems like a spectacularly bad call, unless the dev finds a very convincing way to tie the plot strands back together.

I think the best moment to make changes is as early as possible.
This was only the intro so it makes sense, that you can make some adjustments but the overall story won't change that much.

If it was me, I wouldn't have announced it, just implemented the changes. No one would know it wasn't his plan all along.

I personally completely disagree with their decision, those scenes worked perfectly to tell the kind of story they wanted to tell, but eh it's their AVN.
I also believe they are missing the core point most folks complaining were actually making, they dislike the FMC more than dislike the early death of the pre-event girlfriend.

But I'm ready to place some bets, the next round of complaints will be

• Not enough sex scenes with original GF, why do we need to play as the FMC?
• Is the original GF going to get sex with other characters (e.g. assaulted or not)? NTR!!! Now I don't want to touch her anymore.

If it was me, I wouldn't have announced it, just implemented the changes. No one would know it wasn't his plan all along.

Yeah, using Lisa’s death as emotional catalyst made perfect narrative sense if the theme was about grief, loss, and growth. Reversing that decision because of audience backlash weakens the intended message.

I mean, sure, MC wouldn’t know - but I, as a player, would, - and that makes it much harder to empathise. It actually reminds me of The Missing Part (same emotional approach). Not sure if you’ve played it, but MC loses his wife and daughter in the prologue, and that tragedy defines who he becomes - a grieving man trying to rebuild his life from scratch. I can’t imagine JPK suddenly bringing them back.

That said, once you start rewriting core story points to match feedback, you’re basically opening the floodgates, - and with each change, it becomes harder to maintain narrative consistency. But yeah, ultimately it’s the dev’s game and their choice.

As for the next "adjustment", hmm... my bet would be - deleting FMC line and turning it into a harem.

That's wildly optimistic. People around here would be cheering for her to get killed off again.

We've seen so little of the female player character that I've no idea how she's intended to be used. She could just be a link to tie the male protagonist back into the story, or she could be a significant protagonist in her own right. So far all we've seen from her is weakness and a traumatic loss caused by her own carelessness, so there would be some character building to do for her to be taken seriously as anything more than a damsel in distress.

I might have dropped this anyway because of the shitty animations, but this move doesn't inspire much confidence in the dev as a writer either.

Totally agree, killing someone off can be a potent narrative device in the case of The Missing Part, having the MC's daughter die is what actually got me, by how the scene were set I sort of expected something to happen to the wife, but not to the daughter.

As I mentioned in some of my early posts, this AVN gave me "The Last of Us" vibes, so wouldn't have been surprised to see FMC develop lowkey as Ellie, but yes this change made me lose a bit of confidence on this AVN, yet again... not my AVN so eh.

Great decision by the dev, just ignore all the politically correct trolls and the Karens approach (oh my god he is changing the story, contradict himself - how can we live with this change.... is m"sturbation even possible when the story change's???) and go with the popular approach. This game can be fixed with ten renders and 100 lines of dialogue,,, and we can move on and the dev can make some money
