Going to get a very decent monthly income through Patreon, and then development will slow down to a crawl since at that point burnout sets in, and people keep paying no matter what so there's no longer incentive to deliver anything other than the occasional symbolic bugfix.

On top of that: Getting work done through commissions is far more expensive, and easily takes 10-20 times as long, as what you get with an in-house artist that puts in real hours, so any project that rely on the notoriously fickle work ethics of internet freelancers will always hit a bottleneck in the visual department. And since commission based work doesn't come with long term contracts, the artists lose interest after the first short while, because suddenly they have to act like professionals instead of hobbyists. So art direction is forced to change as someone new has to take over. And that then repeats again 6 months later.

There are a lot of very good reasons these project always die at exact same point in the process. Because that is when it requires a professional, in house, team to build the actual game on top of the system and engine framework. Coming up with the ideas, and building the framework, is the easy part. It's the part that's fun and engaging. When you have to put in the tens of thousands of hours mass producing and polishing content to fill out that framework, that's when the passion starts being in short supply. And at that point you just stop putting in the work, unless you are at a very acute risk of losing your job. Patreon makes sure that that never happens.

But good luck, for sure. I hope to be proven wrong.

I can only hope we don't get another Wild Life situation with this project. I'd rather see it be abandoned and dead than have six (6) years of ongoing development with absolutely nothing to show for it.
This looks just like an insult to many people who decided to support it. If they wanted to, they could cut off funding, but obviously, they didn't because WL does a better job on their game than other developers that aren't even capable of doing such realistic animations/body physics

People have been burned by lots of projects in past indeed (which doesn't help me too much) but its how it is

Not sure if you saw the last post about this topic, but mentioning outsource, I implied that I cant give important core tasks to other people, as well as already mentioning people can ditch a project. Currently, I only work with people I personally know and as you mentioned, getting in-house people would be the best option, which I will try to do, I'm actually sick of working with non-professionals, or even working at studios that didn't behave professionally.

I personally went many times through the stages you described in past projects. (already as a kid I animated flash cartoons with 16000 frames, and had to stick with it until it was done) But slowly I learned to deal with it, and also to set up projects to minimize burnout. In the end, every single project has to go through this.

It isn't so much an insult to the people providing financial support as it is a jab at the developers. The very first public release on adeptussteve's tumblr blog in like, 2014, is functionally identical to the build his team posted just a couple days ago. The animations are really good, I'll give you that - top of their class as far as adult games go. However, I don't like the work ethic they seem to have adopted; bimonthly updates, with what seem like barebones patch notes, including - but not limited to- a handful of new animation loops, minor bug fixes, and crash resolutions. For a team that used to promote their ex-Bioware/Activision-Blizzard/Infinity Ward employees, and is "always hiring more", it truly feels like they aren't putting their best foot forward.

It's easy to pin the blame on unexpected development road blocks and whatnot, but knowing this is a full, well-funded team of supposed professionals, it makes the gut feeling I have worse when I look across the pond, to Steam, and see - a game with one developer, who created a fully playable demo long before Wild Life got the fishing village test map - being slated to release at the end of the year. Again, it's not the Patreon supporters I have any issue with. It's their money, and if they think WL is a worthy project to support, that's their choice. I just can't shake the feeling that the developers are milking their fans instead of committing to the game.

For the record, when I said I didn't want this turning into a Wild Life situation, I only had the highest hopes for this project in mind. I would love for this project to get consistent, gradual support, and I'd really love to see that hefty roadmap bear some fruit. I'm definitely biased because I'm a huge FPS junkie. I thoroughly enjoy playing mainstream arcade shooters, tactical shooters - even Fallout 4, with enough mods, scratches that itch for me. Seeing a project like this, taking everything I love about those games, adding on-the-fly weapon mods, scavenging, looting, AND having an emphasis on adult content? Fully realized, this would be my dream game. Because I'm not someone who normally chooses to support Patreon games for fear of getting burned, it speaks volumes that I'd even consider throwing in a sub, just to see this succeed.

Love the game even without the nudity seeing the monsters you shoot react differently where you shoot them is really interesting.

currently, the only sex thing you can do is have your character finger herself.

I post everything on discord as I work, so immediately for standard class patrons, then weekly updates for Twitter (sort of) and each month release post on Patreon. I also talk about patrons about their feedback or priorities and try to adjust to it as long as it doesn't break my artistic vision.

Hmmm, i like the mix between horror-ish and lewd game style (just like i've been modding my fallout 4 for the past six months) but there are so many things not right.

First of all the shooting mechanic is just meh, after spending thousands of hours on FPS games my expectations for that kind of mechanic is rly high and it just bothers me a lot. I'm playing with 400dpi and very low sens in every single shooter game (0,5m x 2m mousepad is sometimes not enough).

Second of all i just don't know how u're gonna mix up fast paced shooter with lewd content in it, if it gonna have some simple interaction with tentacles or some drunk npcs then it will gonna be boring as hell.

For the last thing, if you are not working on this project with a team of 100 people it will never be finished. After waching the trailer i'm 100% sure that it is too ambitious, too big and you're trying to make too much details about damage system (fyi nobody cares about being able to hurt enemy in 1000 different ways, you get the gun, you see someone is approaching you with red eyes and big ass scream, you shoot).

Just how i predicted for myself that Grimgate, Under The Witch, Pure Onyx and Monster Girl Island never gonna be even close to the end of development, the same feeling i have about this production. Either way good luck developer i guess, you're gonna need a shit ton of it to even make it close to actually have more than 30 minutes of content in about 6 months.

yep i like wildlife cux you can literally take over the body of any character you meet and become them for ever if you like ... just wont have those super powers! like flying and such at least last demo i tested had that issue... now the flying was Ark Survival level almost..

So I gave it a shot, skipping a good chunk of the discussion after rolling my eyes at a 2077 debate.

This is a like a pre-pre-alpha proof of concept build at most. Which is fine. Just know that going in if you download it. Fifteen minutes of mucking about, tops.

It shows off the player character model, has one animation for masturbating, and some basic FPS mechanics (that don't line up remotely with 3rd person mode). The part that seems most developed is the injury system its testing out. You can shoot the dummies which shows off a system for injuries based on where they were hit. It triggers stuff like blood loss, movement penalties, adrenaline production, so on, that all influence each other. It's pretty neat. There's also a day/night and weather cycle. That's the bulk of it.

The first room is just a quick what the game is thing, and then it shows a roadmap. Phase 4 was social media launch which looks like that's where we are now. imo phase 5 and 4 should have maybe been swapped just so you have a better showcase. Right now its a little barebones.

That said: this looks way too ambitious for a single person. You might want to consider a flexible goal in case you don't secure funding because this seems like it will need a team and require years of development for it to even come close to what you want. You're being a bit of an Icarus and coming real close to the sun and might end up burning out.

That said: I think, conceptually, depending on how this is done it can be fantastic. I'm afraid the porn side and the regular gameplay side are going to end up doubling the workload from a normal project. But I'll keep an eye on this and hope things pan out/it doesn't get dropped.

That is really a nice Sun to Moonlight Transition in Scene Day to Night with the Volumetrics im not sure if i have seen this before in Unreal nicely worked out idea :)

nice that you left the internal Debug features by default available stat unit (L) would wish more would do that :)

Oh yeah at Evening the Artifacts explode

Some Hollywood Visual decisions i personally don't like and will turn off (personal preference) sadly the Options doesn't allow it yet and many things need to be forced.

You know how to create atmosphere that Evening with the Flashlights looks really nice even in this early state ;)

And even with just those placeholders has something very eerie well hit with that environment sound and music
for overall Fog stability at Evening 60% seems a good choice bellow it gets very unstable for now and consistency breaks heavily so yeah the Volumetrics consistency can break with Sun Moonlight at Evening it gets temporal cleaned but standing still is not so nice the artifacts are heavy with the default setup.

But i really like this atmosphere very well done, some very impressive looking very nice top notch Unreal Visual results coming out of this side of the Framebuffer :)

Watched Trailer #2 - this looks pretty good. I will be watching this one closely. It looks very promising. One request - work on sex animations, do them well, and you will get plenty of supporters.

In the future, introduce characters with different body types (large breasts/butt). Perhaps with body morph. This is how you get quality sex gameplay.
