Yes, depending on how long game will be (and only dev knows) then it may be a tad too early for pregnancy.. at least for the main girls who are in a majority of scenes. As you say, the two sets of renders for a number of girls can be very time consuming.
Look, ONE pregnant girl is fine. But I just hope it doesn't evolve into every girl being pregnant at some point. I just don't like preggo sex scenes, and I also can't imagine having like 20 families at once to take care of suddenly, that just doesn't make any sense to me.... Hence why I don't want rushed pregnancies.
Now I have done it... Ts ts ts. If you're into this preggo stuff, then that is definitely a game for you. Aside from that, it's also a decent game with nice little stories, not done yet, but so far, very interesting, and i put many hours into it already.
I don't think you have to spend time worrying about that, the dev is pretty good at letting players opt out of content that is not to one's taste.

Good thing this game clearly asks you if you want to impregnate someone or not right? Also all of that impregnation kinda makes sense. Civilization is on the brink of collapse and has numerous dangers threatening to fully destroy it. You'd want to repopulate as fast as possible.
The problem is this: Pregnancies may be optional, but logically they are a huge impact and the story would certainly build on that. So, I highly doubt that pregnancies wouldn't affect anything, especially a story that is this young.
Ehh.... I don't think anyone cares about pushing out as many children as possible if they already have a handful. Not to mention al the ones that the priestesses carry out..
