Except those aren't really solutions. A save migration button would not be appropriate in this case. If it were a situation where the VN were split into separate installs where the old version was kept as "season 1" like some devs do (Eg, Desert Stalker and Desert Stalker 2), then I'd agree but that's not the case here. In this case, the code was ENTIRELY revamped and the renpy version got updated and the old game version is deprecated. There would be no sense in writing in a save conversion calling back to a version that is no longer there. In this case, just start a new save and be done with it just this once. You won't have to expect to do this every update.

And we knew well in advance that the saves were going to break. The dev was very clear about code being reworked in this version ahead of the steam launch. There's also a big warning on the OP letting you know that old saves won't work. If you don't want to play through everything again, then just hold the skip button and skip all of the older content. You'll be caught up in probably less time than it would take you to complain about broken saves on F95.

So you're telling me that after years of development all saves got nuked without a single option to help 99% of the playerbase that aren't new players but have old saves?

No automatic save migration of any kind for a simple RenPy save with simple numerical values that everyone can see with RenPy save editors online?
No prepared saves that people can use in the new version?
No quickstart option where you can select your biggest choices made previously before it continues the story with the new content?
All of the above options were done many times previously by many different devs in much more complex RenPy games.

Subscriptions without strict content expectations is one of the worst things that could have happened to any industry. The dev seeing that he can earn the exact same or more money over time for less work month after month is an inevitability every single time. What an embarrassment.

Downloaded the new version, I enjoyed playing it again. But now nothing happens as Shani doesn't come back. Also Rabiah and her daughter won't arrive at the house. Been waiting 20 "days" or so. I decided to skip Shanis point of view, was that the mistake? Or what can I do now? Thanks for any solutions

Is there still supposed to be a symbol that shows you have finished all released content like there used to be? Because I'm not getting that and just wondering if my game is bugged.

I had a lot of quest entries, one of which still had a "wait a while" note at the bottom. I closed and reopened the game. "End" icon now appears in the upper right, and the quest list has been cleaned up. No "wait a whiles" left.

I'm enjoying my restart of this great AVN.

It was obvious we were going to need new saves since there was so much rework done + a major Renpy update - and something the dev talked about in his dev logs months ago.

Improved stability and a successful Steam release = a better resourced dev who is incentivized to continue adding to hardware and software capabilities to not just continue development but to improve on the content delivered.

I have the added bonus of getting to add a few trolls to my ignore list when they complain about restarting the AVN instead of having the dev take time away from development to hold their hands on a restart of this AVN.

I'm looking forward to more MC/Shani seduction of the Queen and, with luck, we will get more of this path in the next rev.

I have seen this before when the dev makes a lot of changes and improvements in what he has already done. If nothing else, it encourages players to go back and see the new stuff, otherwise they would not. And, yeh, it was worth it. But you can always fast forward the text flow. Later in the game, so much has changed that you will need to stop if you want to continue knowing what is goin on.

How do you fill out relationship tab to have incest removed? When I start a ne game it automatically gives me a "stepdad" option. I would like to try out the game without that.

According to the code, Zaton is mentor. Shani and Ain are protege. Mom is concierge.

One thing though, the game remembers the relationships via the persistent file it seems. When starting a new game, it asks you your relationship to the girls. It'll adjust relationships correctly when answering (step)dad (stepfather doesn't seem to work), but it won't configure anything if you fill in something else (so you may end up with being mentor, and the girls still being your daughters).

I think the Relationship & the 3 Content options should be stored within your save file instead, and when you start a new game you start out with the defaults again?

Another option could be, when starting a new game, the game detecting customized settings, and asking you if you want to reset to default. But still, I think it's a better solution to store those settings within the save.

Note that the game also doesn't ask you for your Sharing preference at the start (but asks you down the line instead thx micmitja).

i have just used old persistent (only that) for relationships so didnt had to set anything.

as sharing goes it does ask you down the line at some point
