Does anyone know what happened to the game on Steam? I was thinking of buying it during the summer sale, but for some reason it disappeared.
Is this a temporary problem or is it complicated and long-term?

You may be logged out of your account. Steam defaults to not showing adult games.

I'm logged in and can see it just fine.

Is there any way we can help tag the games? This should be tagged as VN.

Although I don't grasp why you think this is a VN (suppose you mean linear without choices as in kinetic novel)
you can always report missing tag:
Hit "report" click on "others" then a brief expalnation of what and why, then send !

Aren't kinetic novels a subgenre of visual novel? The game delivers it's narrative almost entirely through textboxes with supplementary pictures and art. What makes it inherently different than being a dik?

I suppose the only way to filter these is to look for 2dgame or 3dgame.

Kinetic novel is pretty much a picture book. There are no choices unlike in VN. Being a Dik is more of a sandbox than normal VN, in fact it's more of a sandbox than Desert Stalker is.

Usually yes. Because a kinetic text novel is essentialy a book. As rule of thumb - if you can skip\miss some content, it's not a kinetic game.
But 3dcg VN also can have different style. Compare World tamer and Being a dik. Both are 3dcg VN, isn't?

Is Itch blocked, too? If you buy on Itch, you can request a Steam key. I think that's how most get around country restrictions.

Yeah there's a little bit. The part where you can make Emilia the captain now and have Ain go down on her comes to mind (one of my fav scenes. hot as fuck). Also "Waited Long Enough" is a lesbian threesome.

I doubt that it matters even in the slightest way. steam has boatloads of games with lesbian content, like shit ton. they are just finding someone small enough to bully to show that steam complies with their batshit policies
