Status update

Hey folks,

a little update on the current status after my short vaccation. I've received all the audio recordings and finalised most of the animations, including new lighting (in the gif on the left). By working with more contrast and focussing on light sources that actually exist in the room, I hope to create an overall more vivid image compared to before, where I lit the scenes more or less in 360 degrees. Nevertheless, I am of course trying to ensure that no ‘detail’ is swallowed up too much by shadows.

There are still about 80 seconds of animation left to finalise and a few more nights of rendering time, but then everything will be ready animation-wise and only the audio production will be missing. As things stand now, the next post should be the release date with the release following shortly afterwards.

Something doesn't quite add up. How was he able to make a 5 min animation during that animation challenge, with voice acting, multiple characters and positions in around a week and a half?

This Witcher whatever the hell it is, has been going on for 5 months, is also 5 mins, of which we've already seen half of, and only has 1 position?

Well, there are two possibilities:

1. He didn't spend as much time as he usually does coming up with the script and story boarding; and worked around the clock to slap together the video as quickly as possible
2. Or... he had already started on it before the challenge was official.

Depending on the computer(s) he's using, it's possible to make a five minute 3dcg video in less than a week if he's working solely on the video around the clock. The voice acting is really the only thing he has to worry about, as DesireSFM does try to lip sync the characters to the VA's work.

well how many artist do you see involving small details and prop physics tbh i think that he is running into roadblocks of the limitation that sfm provides the best thing he could do is change to blender and get some help from the crew

Finally, hope they can fully focus on PE2 after this. They said "guys I think that I won't be able to release PE2 this year (2024), so I'll deliver a short anim before it to compensate." Then proceeds to spend half a year on that. Would've been better to just apologize and go all in on the main project, so it could be out by now. But dragging subs for as long as you can is better I guess.
