I wouldn't say hes milking it since hes been doing actual content as well for his patreon. He still takes comms and does animations of other things so hes not like some content creators that neglect everything else to hard focus on a project and provide nothing else. Its just been a project he's been chipping away at over the years. Gotta remember he's a solo developer which is never easy.
