According to the version 2.3 notes, animations will be available in version 2.4 (although he said the same thing in version 2.2 for 2.3)

But you can "play" a demo that normally IT majors push out as a thesis project or even as just a semester project xD
I mean, really, this demo has so little to offer that I try to understand WHY he was reworking the concept so much, only to return to what we saw back in 2016 (though, unlike this, it was functional and playable, and had a really good sex scene already present back then).

nothing of interest. it's still currently being ported. as others have stated, the old version has more content. Chris Armin isn't animating either so, there's really no need to bother or get your hopes up.
Chris Armin is fully quitting which is even worse- but homie did just post a mega with all his old work and unfinished stuff so-

If I took that offer, he gone Nileseyy Niles on me for the second time today.
I never even recovered from the first act! Still, sad to see that talent go.

To be honest, I liked how the first animation for DA looked like (the first demo ever). It was all your work, right? No external animators?

Apart from the audio, yeah. That's all me. The Godot remake is also all me. Its just hard to deal with hired animators when they get emotional.

I kinda get why there were set backs and issues due to that whole drama...shame really. I believe you had good intentions but the workflow was all over the place at that point.
If you can, please remind me what was the point of contention that caused the rift in the first place? I mean, beside the obvious economy/schedule stuff. Wasn't there an issue with Rapevine being a bit too grimdark originally? I'm curious because I kinda liked the darker premise behind her...it...them?

Patreon's ever changing ToS was a big part of it. I got suspended a lot of times and that glorified grape was one of them. They didn't like the part where the vines grape them, tear their limbs and keep them just alive enough to attract male victims. I had a few enemies that's definitely dark that some can lead to guro (ecologically speaking), but a lot of em will never see the light of day.
There were lots of batshittery in play specially in my personal life that will sound as an excuse, but they all piled up and Chris' unfair exit was the breaking straw. Lost like 80% of my Patrons and mishandling those events, I sure as hell deserve it. Drama, depression yada all those things. But yeah, aside from the 'allowed' Monster fantasy stuff, every dev under the watch of Patreon will remain Vanilla.

Yeah, I think you were among the first to be striken by the change of ToS after the Breeding Seasons scam (when they started reavaluting erotic content).
Unlike the very recent Eromancer drama (which was visible for miles away), your case seemed kinda unjustified every time due to way too sudden changes to ToS...well, even more reason to start avoiding Patreon for that kind of work I guess.
Also, I'm not sure about how it works currently but do try to keep the contact lists to your patreons outside of Patreon if there would be a sudden strike without any chance to appeal. And I'll probably sound slightly like a hypocrite but starting SubscribeStar for "additional" content that goes outside of what Patreon allows is not such a bad idea. Stuff like darker content, rapey stuff etc.
It could be a DLC/mod sort of a thing or just WiP concepts for now, since Patreon is getting very strict about maintaining the same version of the game across different websites. Just an idea...

I really hope you've learnt from some of these experiences because like I've said - I really loved the original first demo and still have some hope for the future, even though I might seem very critical and jaded at times
I'm not exactly a fan of guro from "fap perspective" but there's a part of me hoping to see some documents and concepts of it (same with other enemies). I bet there are people curious about it as well. Like an unused/implied bad ends that would happen to "normal" people in this world.
I was always a fan of a more "realistic", world-building approach to hentai games (even if it cannot be utilized in the game for many reasons, like I guess is in your case), with some enemies and situations being "not-so-friendly".
For example, a lot of folks throw in orcs/goblins/minotaurs/ogres/Oni as your "pure lustful" enemies, forgetting that in some situations it could be justified to give them just "bloodrage" and some level of non-sexual brutality (since these creatures in OG are man-eaters first, and rapists second).
Perhaps the best balance of it in-game is with Guilty Hell from Kairi (though, amount of fugly fat guys sucking feet and armpits there is concerning xD).

Ehh...I'm not going into Internet Historian mode in here.
Long story short - Patreon started being more and more restrictive with every h-game that was creating drama. Breeding Season was THE biggest fail (everyone and their mother heard about the fiasco and how it could undermine the trust in crowdfunding) and basically started a spiral of changes into ToS.
They never addressed the actual issue but were more and more restrictive with anything that could generate bad press outside...and hearing about the fail of the biggest patreon with almost 50k$/month that focused on breeding and fucking monster girls/boys is a bad press. Didn't help it was walking on an even thinner ice with its theme (the roster included bestial-like and obviously underaged characters).
This change of attitude is only getting worse and worse and is the reason why SubscribeStar exists in the first place.
