You need to edit the .rpy file, not the .rpyc file.

Try this in order:

1/ Your zip file may be corrupted. Download the game again.
2/ Install your game in an easily accessible location that is not too long. Example: C:\Games\DivineHeel-0.2.7-PC
3/ If you have played the game before, delete the cache files. These can be found at:
C:\Users\‘Username’\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\DivineHeel.
Please note that saved games will be lost.

Bugged me too that when you watch scenes in the gallery you are still named Vlad even if you have named the MC otherwise.

Solution: Edit the first Line default player_name = "Vlad" while changing Vlad to the Name of your liking.
File path is %GameDir%\game\Scripts\Setup\player.rpy.

It seems that in the replays the default name is used instead of the one you put in, don't know why.
Fix from the Dev that the replays will just use the changed Name and not the default one would definitely be appreciated.
So you don't have to change that again on every new Update since 0.1 like ... some people.

There is a solution on page 63 of this thread to bring back the replays but im not sure if it includes the newest scenes or just the scenes from before the dev stopped including the replay.
