Just tested it, tsurupeta seems to work with/without VPN but you would still need VPN as 80% of the games are hidden without VPN. From what I've tried, you could browse with the English language and it wouldn't affect games being hidden so long as VPN is connected.

Off-topic: do you know of the cheapest VPN for getting a South Korean IP? I want to stream something from EBS, a channel that limits content to S. Ko. visitors.
I don't remember where I read this, that some games without problematic tags could still be hidden if they have problematic content -- like, DLSite would have its interns going around marking certain games as hidden, regardless of their tags.
Just use chrome extension called "VPN Japan - Planet VPN lite Proxy".

A question, does a VPN have access to the credit card details that you type in a web form when making an online purchase, or is it just a tunnel through which the HTTPS-encrypted data flows through so it only sees gibberish?

Nope, as long as the site you're buying off of is encrypted then you'll be fine. No vpn service will be able to see those details unless you get some shady one that has a keylogger or something, but that won't be an issue if you get something reputable.
They will be able to see what you are connecting to with your vpn, but they won't be able to see the contents of it.

normally now that visa and mastercard are back, then you can turn on your vpn to buy whatever you want with those points since if you have one that's connected to japan you'll be able to view it normally without any region blocking issues.Again, "I think" because I'm not sure since I haven't tried it myself.
