Yeah. DLSite is really going downhill for overseas customers.
First it was the refusal of Visa/Mastercard payments (having to use a third-party website like ForBooks) to buy points to make a purchase.

Now, if you connect to a Japanese VPN and check out the site, you'll find a lot of games that are simply missing or inaccessible abroad. I've observed that even games without "petite" etc. included are gone too, it seems random.
Unfortunately it's not just the petite tag that got region blocked, there are many more. If you go to the tags page on DLsite and compare it with/without using a vpn you'll be able to see a good amount of tags that won't show if you're not connected to a vpn.

if you're on firefox you can use urban vpn
There's the desktop app that can be used with Firefox, but extension itself, only Chrome and Edge have it. Firefox's extension has been removed for some reason, but you can use it with the desktop app which affects all web traffic on your Windows, not just the browser.
will it log my data?
It logs and collects data (urls, device details, ads you clicked on, size of your ****) as explained in here:
It can't know the passwords you type unless it's become an actual piece of malware with a keylogger, like explained in here: https://f95zone.to/threads/dlsite-j...-from-overseas-x-twitter.246342/post-16843441

Firefox's extension has not been removed, it has just been renamed to . I have linked it in the thread previously.

Their website still points to the old broken link, and the description page for that Shield extension never mentions the word "VPN", or describe VPN-like features such as "surf with IPs from other countries".

Have you actually used Urban Shield?

Yes I'm using it, as I said in my previous comment.
The add-on page says Urban Shield by Urban VPN. It also says Hide your IP and Refresh your IP. It's main function is of a VPN and you can disable all the adblocking, and cache and history clearing 'features'.

teraexbf it's not in the text description though, which is what I was basing myself on.
But that's beside the point, if it has the features then it has them, period. The screenshots in that page do mention it, like you said.

Yes I'm using it, as I said in my previous comment.
In the extension, how many locations are there to choose from, is it the full list like in their "VPN locations" page on their website, or is it a limited list with just a handful of them?
I'm asking because one of the images only shows 4 locations:

Just download and see man, it hardly takes a minute.
There are only 3 locations: India, Japan & USA. But its speed is pretty good.

I have used it as well. There is not much to choose from regarding locations, but if it has Japan, then it's enough for me for this purpose. I haven't shopped with it, only browsed DLSite and then turned off the extension which I also recommend so that they don't take any more data than absolutely necessary. Unless you don't care that is.

I think you can purchase normally now that visa and mastercard are back, then you can turn on your vpn to buy whatever you want with those points since if you have one that's connected to japan you'll be able to view it normally without any region blocking issues.

Again, "I think" because I'm not sure since I haven't tried it myself.
Heya, has anyone tried to do this, buying DLsite points and using VPN to buy a game that's blocked?

Does anyone know of a proxy that can be used for the same? Even if it's paid.
I think it'd be a better solution than VPN that you don't really trust: a proxy connection is configured by yourself in the browser, and it's just an IP and a port numbers that you write in the settings.
There's no third-party software involved unlike with VPNs.

dokodesuka: VPNs don't necessarily require any extra software. They offer it, because it's convenient for most of their users (I guess). But in most cases they still use standard protocols, so you can use that directly. The info about it may be "hidden" somewhere in their help section, look for configuring VPN on router or something.

smnb I couldn't find such details for the UrbanVPN being shared in this thread. Looks like they really want you to download and run their program.
In practical terms, a VPN is no different than an elite proxy that hides your real IP address, but the proxy has those benefits I mentioned earlier of it just being a connection configuration in your web browser (or at the operating system level too, if you want other programs to also use the proxy like games etc).

Currently looking at some elite (as in elite/anonymous/transparent etc) proxy offers from "BrightData", but there are other providers too. If I make any progress I'll report back.

Edit: their marketing targets the web scraper people (businesses that focus on collecting data from other people's websites). I'll do some tests under the trial period.

Edit 2: hah, the website I was trying to access (a geoblocked website that's not DLSite) was still detecting me as overseas even with the proxy on, because of timezone fingerprint probably. Looks like I'll have to use something like the Vytal-io extension to spoof timezone/locale etc.

Edit 3: even with the proxy + Vytal (so my IP is local to the region, and the browser timezone/locale is spoofed to that region), the website is still detecting me as foreign... now that's confusing. What could it be?
