A bit of a rant:
I'm the first guy to say that video games can be art. But art is not what I come looking here for. I just want to get my rocks off. Because to me most of the games here are porn. A fact that some developers seem to disagree with. Or at least forget.
In porn, anything that detracts from your ability to actually fap is a negative quality. Which is why I don't get developers that for example bog down their games with way too wordy, overly ambitious stories. Or suddenly decide to be all deep, subvert tropes and basically tell the player "fuck off with your wish fulfillment, this is serious fucking business", like in Acting Lessons.
All that... in a porn game. Which presumably the player started up, not because he wants to hear what sort of "deep" observations the developer has on the nature of human condition, but because he wanted to jerk off. And now he cannot do that because he has to click through 15 minutes of really not that interesting story before he can get any action. Or he gets pissed off with the personal drama of the paper-thin characters in the game. That is not good porn game design.
Of course, I'm all for creating meaningful storytelling experiences. But if that is what you set out to do, then be ready for your work to be judged based on a higher standard. The same generic DAZ 3D models, your "ambitious" story interjected with poorly justified sex scenes or clunky gameplay in case of games which include that. We forgive all that stuff because it's a porn game and what matters is whether you can fap to it.
It's not a $100 dinner in a fancy restaurant, it's a cheap burger in a shady joint that you wandered into at 3 AM while completely wasted. And when I do that, I just want something that is filling, somewhat tasty and convenient. I don't want the waiter to take 20 minutes just to set up the table just so I can get some appetizers.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm not saying that you can put some interesting, maybe even ambitious things in a porn game. Stories CAN enhance the experience. But when it starts to detract from the fapping experience, it's not a good porn game.
So, to sum up - remember that, at the end of the day, you are making a porn game. Or, if you are not, then be ready to be judged more harshly because now you are being compared to other, non-porn games. And, if that happens, it might turn out that when the game stops being seen just as wank material, no one wants to read your shitty story.

So... What do you think guys? Do you see games here just as wank material and think that they should focus on the quality of "action" or do you welcome titles that go beyond that?
