RPGM Downfall: A Story of Corruption [v0.14.2 Beta] [Aperture Studio]

Will saves ever work again, or are we at a point where our saves will never work with the new update, and we'll be given a save to use every time?
The issue with this is if someone misses an update, for whatever reason, and comes back to the thread 2-4 updates later, they will either be forced to just not see any of the material between their last play and the new update, or they will have to start over.
Starting over in an RPGM game isn't like Renpy, where you can easily skip to the unseen stuff within minutes, or just answer a few questions and be where you left off.

played the update and hm... as much as i am happy to see new content and how much effort/work aperture studio put into the game (so much better map, great navigation) i am personally speaking not happy about this update.

the best about the update for me was the text. well written in my opinion. better than other texts i tend to see in such adult games. (not too much and not too few also)

the sex poses and the cuckolding was kinda hot. (even tho see the "cool" aunt killing her husband after seeing he really do it with jane would have been way more dramatic and interesting in my opinion)

i kinda enjoyed the flow of the main quest for the most part.

now to the stuff i didn't like:

- too few options to chose (more and more forced scenes - something other games in this genre really do better is that you can still choose what route and scene you wanna go/do and which not - even you are very depraved. i felt way too forced to do the scenes like glory hole which i am personally not a fan of)

- the role of the "uncle" his really weird and i can't take this character seriously. (what he talks, that jane suddenly really wants to fuck this weak spined immature looking guy and especially how he still looks. he talks with her as if he is about 15-25 years older at least but he looks like her brother, even his wife looks more age-appropriate...) -> makes the hole scenes way less exciting. also the worst built up story wise by a mile compared to the others (and some others are of course ridicilous too but to some degree i never mind cause its a porn game after all)

- she is now a full cheap whore. okay. even the change is really drastic (i mean you can be a whore but a cheap whore takes away the excitment for me at least) i still don't mind it much but why are then 8/10 guys always still good looking/nice looking if she really decided to fuck everyone now?

- the main story progression just ended when it started to get interesting... really disappointed here.

i respect that everyone has different tastes/kinks (as long as they are their fantasies of course) but all that aside the update was still one, if not the most disappointing for me.

-> not one i was really excited for - and the mainstory just stopped when it got interesting
-> "uncle" storyline the by far worst and most boring even the cuckold idea was kinda hot
-> way less excited cause now she immediately talks herself down to just being a whore which makes her for the most part just a fuckdoll which takes away character and excitment if goes that far down. and yes i already wasn't a fan the humiliation part got bigger and bigger in this game but now she is just a cheap whore? :-/

i hope the next update will be better and aperture studio can get back to where jane was when she was conflicted and could chose if she wanted to have sex with x but if she decided to do it she went full depraved. otherwise even the text is well written i will just enjoy the renders and thats about it then i guess.

Since you played it already, where is this motel I am supposed to go to after meeting with T-Dog?
The only "nearby motel" I see says "hotel" and is in the slums, and in the afternoon, it says "not ready."

Nevermind: Apparently I had to talk to him again to initiate the scene. And I didn't see anywhere in the game where it said I needed to do that. THe "hint" just said to go to the "motel in the afternoon."

I copied my complete Save folder over to the new Directory created with this update and they all work fine. To skip content just hold down the left mouse button during dialogue scenes.

First of, new version, great.

Now for the irritating stuff, I get to the downsides a little later on.

Her Parents aren't her parents, and her aunt isn't really her aunt, that's confusing. Together with the blackmail instead of corruptionstuff with the old man, and who knows what I didn't catch by just playing on and never restarting. I guess some of these changes are due to patreon? I don't think any of that was a good idea from a pure narritive point of view.

The corruption is quite a bit fast, 2 weeks and we are from zero to total slut? Ok, not from zero since she did fuck for better grades, but still, it feels a little inconsistent. I mean, pornstar with a wig but now we have, I'm a whore now and I will fuck my not-uncle in front of my not-aunt. Yeah it's a cool scene on principal, but how did we get here, and shouldn't we stop out therapy at the neighbors now, doesn't seem to be something we need anymore. I would also like to point out the whole dialogue at the dinner did seem completly off.

The downsides, as always, we get more fresh quest and I'm still waiting for some of the old quests that made me stay with this game this long to get somewhere. Dirty secret will feel very strange once it continues if we have the slut we have today doing it.

I would also like to point out, there are quite a few months in between versions and this feels like we didn't get all that much for the time spent on it.

This RPGM version is actually pretty nice.
Sure, most people want games in RenPy but this game has everything you want.
I think this game thrives pretty well with that engine. I even like the recent update for the map. It seem minor but it does make it easier.
Personally, i really like it. There are worst RPGM versions out there. Some were old and had less features.

I guess RenPy makes it really easy to sift through the game without having to spend so much time. RPGM is very time consuming

Skipping in RPGM only speeds up scenes, a bit. You still have to spend time walking all over the map, searching for where to go. And if you just skipped a ton of dialogue, you have to read the Quest log for clues, that are sometimes vague, and guess where to go and what to do. Skipping in Renpy, I can right click the "skip" button, at the bottom of the screen, click "yes skip" function, and it goes to the next choice. lol

But...every time I download a new update, I do what you did...copy the entire save folder over to the new save folder, but the last few updates with this game, my saves didn't show up in the game. So, I ended up having to use the given save.
But...i assume you mean copying the saves from the different location that is not the actual game folder. And I always struggle to find it (cause I have a ton of games on this PC lol). But, I guess that means copying them from the downloaded save folder to the game folder I already had does nothing, and I need to copy them from the downloaded game folder to that other hidden save folder that I can never find. lol

Usually I move away the existing save folder in the new update and replaced it with the older version one, that keeps all my saves and the new as a backup

Sometime you will get a game update on RENPY or RPGM that the newest version of the game engine just wont work with old saves. I made 2 assumptions that could be wrong..I assumed you were coming from version 0.12 and that you were on PC.

If you are on PC, this is how I organize my games and move saves so I can find them easily. I actually have a seperate network drive but lets say everything is happening on my C: drive for simplicity.

All my games are organized in C:\games with C:\Games\STEAM and C:\games\AVN subdirectories .. easy so far

I then break it down into a KEEP subdirectory and a TEST subdirectory. So C:\games\AVN\KEEP

(Difference is the KEEP directory is for AVN's I follow and will update and TEST is for brand new AVN's I have never touched before)

So Under
C:\games\avn\keep\Downfall A Story of corruption

I keep the current version 0.12 and the latest version 0.13 until I'm sure that 0.13 is stable and not crashing or bugged.

under there is your games\save folder

C:\games\avn\keep\Downfall A Story of corruption\0.12\www\save (your file system maybe slightly different depending on how you names your directories)

I then copy that SAVE directory over to the new update directory

C:\games\avn\keep\Downfall A Story of corruption\0.13\www\save

then start the new update and hopefully I have no issues.

That's just to detail the file structure, if you have the ICON on your desktop, you can unpack the new update (DONT START IT YET) Right click on the OLD ICON on your desktop and select OPEN FILE LOCATION then go into the WWW folder and COPY the SAVE folder in it's entirety to the new updates WWW folder if it asks you to overwrite old files there say YES.

that should successfully copy your old saves into your new update.

(To anyone not computer literate in directory structures and cant find 0.12 or 0.13 directories, It is because I name my update folders that way for simplicity) most people will have something like Downfall_A Story of Corruption_PC_v0.12.0 and Downfall_A Story of Corruption_PC_v0.13.0.

My mixed save where I still corrupt her but keep her somewhat pure and trying to maintain innocence with out missing many scenes her Depravity/Morality is 46/27
The Virgin nun route you will miss scenes.

Why not Play all 3 routes and see for yourself? These VN's are like a Choose your own adventure books, even if I finish one path I would like to go back and see WHAT IF I chose differently, what would have happened. I appreciate having the choices, this isn't a linear VN where you have no choice in what happens.

Personally I agree a pure slut sim can get boring but this isn't that.

I came to comment something along the same lines.
Even though I selected most scenes if not all (even if just to see them once) I don't like not being able to choose, it's not a game anymore, it's a kinetic novel but not even in renpy. So we have to walk around for no reason since our input isn't really needed.
I never liked the uncle but the whole story with the corruption was kind of interesting. It serves no purpose now, if she is a full blown whore. Also from the description of the whole prostitution scene and whores thing, it's clear the creators of the game have no idea of that world. Of course every prostitute can choose her customer/s, suggesting otherwise as her aunt was is ridiculous. There's other things about the whole thing that make no sense. In writing there's a clear rule: write what you know. I would say, at least to some extent, this should apply to making games as well. Otherwise it feels so stupid, even for a porn game that I can't take it seriously.
Her being this insane whore all of a sudden takes all the fun out of it for me. What story of corruption. It's done. End of the line.


While I think the MC is hot, the renders themselves are pretty average, so one more update like this and I'm sure to stop playing this game. I play very few rpgm games, the only one that made any sense for me to be in rpgm was Karryn's prison. So I'm not going to suffer through renpy just to see some renders if I get bored with the story. If I just want to see senseless fucking I'm better off watching real porn.
