If not Daz, what then? Blender?
Eventually. But I'm still building up my Blender skills. I'm working on a ZBrush -> Substance -> Blender pipeline for the future. But that move is probably eight months to a year away. For now, Daz is the devil I have to dance with and I'll continue making the best game I can with it. Problem is this mother fucker keeps crashing on this handful of scenes and I think I just need to shelf it for tonight and start from scratch again tomorrow morning with a fresh head.

It's pissing me off because I've done almost 100 renders with the objects and lighting in this scene. And now that I"m down to the last 30, it keeps freezing the system up and I have to do a complete reboot after twenty minutes. It's bizarre as fuck because nothing has changed in the scene except for the poses.

I just want to punch this cocksucker in the groin.

I'm going to set the next 22 renders up and see if these 8 images are the only problem children in the bunch. Fingers crossed. If I just have to redo 8 images in the morning, that's not bad.

Yeah, it's frustrating.
So far, I still like iRay render better than Cycles, and setting up cameras is a lot harder in Blender... So I am still planning to use a mix, but it depends, Blender dose handle certain geometry better, so it depends on what you are using I guess...
Best of luck!

For me the big wins for Blender are A: Cycles is super fast. B: Material nodes give me a ton of control (something I've loved about Maya too).

The camera doesn't bother me though. I find it to be a lot more intuitive but that's because I have a background in photography. When I'm in Daz and I have a focal distance of 408 and an F/Stop of 816. Those are just arbitrary numbers you play with until it looks right. In Blender, I know what to expect with 24mm Lens and an F/Stop of 2.8 (a nice wide angle shot with a shallow depth of field ((I actually have a 24mm Canon 'pancake' lens with these features)).

So I look forward to being able to apply that knowledge when setting up shots.

Well, we're through 5 of 14 so far. Fingers continued to be crossed.

The new Eevee is nice for some stuff, but it is not glass friendly, not something I would do a final render with. Though some things it does better, just depends on what you want I guess...

I studied a bit of photography, but was never that good, being dyslexic, numbers and letters get all screwed up, so I always forget what it what...

Your progress has been impressive. I am sure you will get it soon.

My experience with Eevee is that it's good for getting a feel on the fly. I wouldn't use it for final renders. But it's good to get a fast sense of your lighting and physics.

Yeah exactly, eevee is more for real time rendering, like a full 3D world you need to rendering as you go. But yeah, not something you want in proper renders.
