But waiting for this game makes the WVM drought seem like a long weekend, for crying out loud.
Needless to say it was a rough, pandemic filled summer with lots of twists and turns. But I've pretty much used up all the talking points about that and all I can say is that I'm glad Fall has arrived.
When do we get to see this V 2.x? And will it hold content equivalent to a 1.1.5 -> 2.x jump?
V2.x.x will launch with Cassie's completed chapter. Unfortunately, it won't contain everything 1.1.5 has because I did a reorganization of Renpy's gui directories and did an overhaul of the code and how your game's choices and playthrough are recorded. The goal was to eliminate future save breaks.
But because 1.x.x and 2.x.x are completely incompatible, I have to overhaul the code on all the existing content and I don't want to delay this chapter while I do that. So my tentative plan is to release Cassie's chapter with Cheat Mode unlocked so that you can play the latest content in any way you want.
Then I will continue to release new content on the v2.x.x platform and while I'm waiting for the images for all the new content to render I'll use my laptop to update all the old code and bring everything into v2.x.x.
My new development philosophy is, New Content has Top Priority, everything else is to be done while New Content is busy Rendering and I have down time. This way there is a non-stop stream of new stuff coming out and slowly the old stuff is being brought up to speed.
really want to support this game but the updates take waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. cancelled my patreon and will see where things go from here but maybe less talk about how great you've automated certain things and all these streams and more focus on getting the next chapter out
Firstly I do appreciate the contributions you have made and I'm sorry you feel that those contributions were not applied well.
I have tried to make every effort to ensure that development of this game is as transparent as possible. When it comes to making this game I have done my best to be clear, honest and straightforward about every aspect of development.
The streams are nothing but me making new content for Cassie's chapter. Every stream is 100% content development and in a stream we add anywhere from 25 to 40 new images to the game. What takes time is rendering because after we do a stream, we're averaging 25 minutes per render. So those 25 images created during the stream will now take about 10 hours to render out.
The last two months have been spent doing nothing but creating new content for the game.
Time will tell if it's all worth it.
You are entitled to your own opinion and not being part of the Patreon but don't be an ass when Roman was 100% open about the coding going to take some time and also Livestreaming to show that content is being made and Roman being focused on getting the next chapter out.
I could be wrong, but I like to think that when it comes to developers who are open and transparent with their processes, I have to rank in the top five. I encourage people to ask questions and I always answer as honestly as I can.
I try to offer up weekly updates so people know what's happening in the process and anyone who's watching the live streams knows how much time, effort, energy go into making the art for the game (which I have to say is getting better and better).
And for what it's worth, I'm on track to have Scenes 1-6 of Cassie's newest chapter out for playtesting by the end of the week. The last 30 or so renders are in the queue and I just have to add music, sound, and journal entries.
There's also some more good news in that department, but I gotta save that for my Patreon news post tomorrow.
