The cheats for Cheatengine are rather straightforward iirc too.
All you really need are the Gold, Semen, and Exp cheats.
For either one:
1) Click on the monitor looking button and open the dragon blood file from the list of processes
2) Input the present value and click first scan
3) Consume or increase gold, semen, or experience points
4) Click on lower or greater value and then click next scan
5) Repeat 3-4 until the possible addresses decreases down to 1 or 2.
6) Click on both and then click on the red arrow to copy the addresses
7) Experiment with both addresses and one address will definitely work
8) Make sure to finish you business with the code while playing since the address will change when you exit the game and reload it.
That's objectively still a lot more annoying and more work than just using the MTool UI after opening the game with it. Since at the end of the day, it's still a trial & error approach, which it isn't with MTool.
For engines that are supported by MTool I generally use that if I wanna mess with it in any way. In this case, RPGM & Wolf RPG.
But to be fair, in my experience, the RPGM toolset is more expansive & user friendly (easier) than the Wolf RPG one.
But still, for example, I love the speedup function MTool injects into RPGM games.
Ain't even got anything to do with cheating yet, but many of these games are frustratingly slow. Even if you enable 'always dash', it's still often frustratingly slow for many of these, especially if they just make you dig through some random map, running back & forth for random ass events. Same goes for battles.
Anyway, to each their own of course. CheatEngine's strength is that is engine-agnostic, just operating on messing with memory addresses after all. But for where I can use it, MTool is a better cheating tool.
And obviously, many of these types of eroge are annoyingly grindy for no good reason, so it's one of the few types of games where cheating is sometimes just warranted. Though it's still not my primary approach, since I still feel a bit bad when I do cheat a game.
