I'd still disagree, there has been 6 episodes of build up with Mom, 5 with Tracy, and 4 with Alice. While I do feel the scenes bounce around a little too often, the actual progression has been pretty well done.
Good post. In retrospect there have been a lot of episodes (game releases) where there is some interaction that has influenced the characters, but as you said it's very hodge-podge seeming, a little in the last episode and a lot in this one. In the earlier episodes the MC saw the apparition influencing the mom, sis, etc, but now nothing. Do we assume the apparition is still moving around randomly "tapping" the female characters all day long to get them to constant arousal?
I think the biggest problem is the game doesn't always do a great job in reinforcing the previous experiences. For example, all the female characters should have commented on their "day out" with the MC and had some interaction with him the next "day" to discuss, further explore, tease, repeat the previous sexual interaction, something/anything to show that they still thought about it and it drove their actions.
But that assumes the game isn't trying to devolve into a "female characters become mindless sluts who have zero will power or thoughts of their own other than to have sex with MC 24/7" trope and where we'll see the female characters all walking around naked or in some "corruption style gear" (usually bondage themed) all the time. Ugh, if this occurs it'll be a truly sad end to a very good start and the game will have earned it's label of "good renders, but story is meh" that some have commented previously.
I like the game, but agree that from a story stand-point this episode felt a lot more like the dev thought a "it's been 7 episodes, if we don't give them sex now they'll revolt!" and added fan service, instead of the carefully crafted and connected story that the game had the first few episodes. In trying to appease all the horn-dogs (I am one myself) the story seems to be taking a bit of a backseat, or there is too much disjointedness/assuming the player has more backstory than they do ("hey, let's throw 4 sentences into a library scene to explain everything! Ta-da, story done, now let's get back to the sex!).
But again this isn't a slave trainer. You're looking for something that was never in the game in the first place. The literal name of the game is Dreams of Desire, it was always a game that was using dreams to influence the girls.
So question... Whats the difference between a corruption and a slave trainer game? Aren't they the same in the end? The female character loses all sense of former self and mindlessly does whatever action the MC wants?
I mean sure you can quibble about the methods used: slow corruption, hypnosis, magic, dreams, blackmail. mind break, etc, but ultimately they all destroy whatever "real" original personality the female characters had over a periuod of time. I think the issue that
@zalook is mentioning is that the game started with the premise of slow buildup and "influencing" the female characters and now it is jumping to a different method, as if full corruption/mind break has occured and they have zero will for themselves, or something very close to that path.
It's a bit of a disjoint to the original premise and seems a bit of a deux ex machina so the dev doesn't have to actually write a story that would continue the '
slow influence so they think it's their idea and they then instigate actions with the MC'" and the tantalizing bits of interplay that occured earlier on.
Sure, some love the idea of mindless lust robots, or the whole 'rape until they love you' degredation, but the game never really set up to become either one of those, either with the book, or the flashbacks, so it's a bit jumbled that now it seems to be going there fairly quickly and changing tack without a whole lot of explaination, or at least much less explaination than we saw originally.
