Because there is no feel of guilt. Never was and never will be. It's just smooth and sweet talk for the patrons, which by just looking the comments on that post is working really damn well. Lewdlab is following ICSTOR's footsteps here pretty decently: the "burnout", going silent for months, letting everyone think he is working when in reality dude is somewhere else just having a vacation at the middle of pandemic while the money still keeps flowing in, giving release date that is still 2 months away when the thing was supposed to be done first in March, then in April and then in May, then "all you can do is apologize" and promise everyone you'll change but never actually keep your word on it. Been there, seen it, thousands of times. I seriously refuse to believe that as experienced dev as Lewdlab would miscalculate so badly that many times how long it takes to get the thing done. I seriously can’t feel bad about the "burnout" when he’s collecting $20,000+ a month. If you're really having a burnout, then you close your Patreon page and take some time off properly. At this point, I wouldn't even be surprised if Lewdlab/Dr.Sin would just be ICSTOR's alter ego.

Not gonna lie, I envy your ability to oversimplify everything. I wish the word really was that simple.

By the way, what do you mean when you say "Been there"? Have you been a dev? Have you been burnout/overwhelmed for a game/project that thousands of people have been waiting? Have you ever converted a Renpy game into a full Steam game?

Lewdlab has just lost interest due to burnout. He will chill and take some time off and will return.
Simply unsub from his patreon and wait for him to come back.

That being said, Lewdlab deserves criticism. Poor communication and not being clear with us.
He should just be str8 with us and tell us his plans, so we are not in the dark.
Im especially upset about the the release (definitive edition) which was scheduled for March 2021...
And seeing midnight paradise being "onhold" is heartbreaking

No, I haven't been a college dropout smut game dev, but I've been something way more than that in a place where you just can't ditch everything and leave on a vacation and pretend you have a burnout when ever you feel like it, but instead clench your teeth and finish your job first so the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people, who are waiting the project to be done will be satisfied. And I don't really know why you think that the coding part even matters here, since it's done by his coder Maim Lain, and all Dr. Sin does these days is the rendering. But hey, it's reaaaaaaally hard work to just wait your computer getting the renders done.

After the little bit over the first year I was only able to return to somewhat more normal life, yet I still wasn't fully recovered from it, not even close. That's why I call bullshit when these dudes who render 3D CGI pictures complains about being "burnout" and say they are recovered after "one week vacation" or so. That's not a burnout, that's just you being exhausted. Don't say you are burnout when you don't even know what a burnout actually is.

Of course it's his own project. It doesn't matter if he works with other people. It is his game and his project, if he wakes up one day and fells like never working on it again, his team isn't a company where someone else will take the leadership, everything his team can say is say "GG" and never work on it too.

Lastly about burnouts, it seems like I was right, sadly. If you went though that shitty situations and you think that others should "clench your teeth and finish your job" like you did and went thought that 1-3 shitty years like you did, then yes, you clearly didn't learn anything from your experience. Not because you had a bad time means that other should have a bad time too or that their suffering must be the same kind of yours or that can't be called suffering.

By the way, I don't know why you're answering. I'm answering to show that not everyone thinks the worse like you do, but most importantly, I'm not saying that I know everything, I'm saying that you clearly don't know everything either, yet you think yo do and assume the worse of everyone. One week 'recovery' is a really bad project deadline, with multiple all-nighters, in the course of a month or two. One MONTH 'recovery' is exhausted; meaning the LITERAL: "I cannot get out of bed because there is no energy in the tank".

Multiple vacations over a 9 or 10 month period, with no work provable being performed, is: "I make enough off you simps to do whatever I want, so you'll get what I give you when you suck it enough." 'Cuz if a real job did that to you? You'd quit and sue the employer for abuse. 'Nuff said.

In fact, this is incorrect.
Back then, it was the USUAL animation but not the BEST. Some dev could do better than that.

Hey everyone

Just wanted to post something so you can see I'm here and share what I'm working on.

Last week I started working on the trailer and that's still what I'm doing. It's an unusual task because I've never made a long a video. Putting a scene together in the game is quite different, because when you're putting up a trailer, you have to condense as much good stuff into a single minute as possible while also making it appealing and of course cool looking.

This, as many other tasks can be approached in different ways. Either just record some gameplay footage and call it a day, spend dev time elsewhere, or fully commit and try to make it as awesome as possible. I think you can guess which approach I'm taking. It's a unique challenge and I'm trying to nail this. I've had tons of ideas that I've scrapped already, but looks like it's coming to a conclusion. I wanna be done with it this week and move on to other things on the list.

I hope I can show it to you soon.

Otherwise, not much is happening outside of work. I went to the gym 3 times last week, I'm satisfied with that. It helps a lot with my mood. Maybe I'll become Dr Chad in the future? Probably not, but it's all good

That's all from me for now. It's a short post, but it's probably best if I don't write a wall of text every time. I'll let you guys know how things are going.
