Because in the time since his last update (over a year and a half) his supporters have given him almost 150,000 dollars (before taxes/patreon cut at least). If you're going to get that much money for no work why bother actually working?
If my boss was going to pay me 150,000 dollars regardless of the work I did I'd never go to work, and if I did I wouldn't work very hard or for very long. Gumdrop is the same way. Now obviously my boss would never do that, and I'd be fired. Why do gumdrop's supporters allow him to do that? Delusions and mental illness most likely.

And thus, the quintessential nature of piracy is realized: Developers(whether they're AAA or indie) cannot be trusted. Guy's stolen enough money from folks that I'm perfectly comfortable hoping he or a loved one contracts cancer. This guy's scammed more money out of people than most indian "IT companies"

GimpDrop is no better than the people that prey on the ignorant out of a pretty substantial amount of money. He could be making fuckable, stuffed teddy bears for all I care, but it's the fact he's intentionally misleading gullible folks that I have a bone to pick. That's 90k~ that could go towards either bettering someone's own life, donating to a good cause that could potentially save someone else's, or even supporting a creator that actually deserves it.
I can respect that you'd give me a heads up, but what kind of backwards-ass logic abyss did you have to reach into to come up with your conclusion that my beef was with someone not meeting my expectations in a porn game? This is just blatant theft in which he provides no positive influence on society based on his own ethics in-so-far as we can gleam. You tell me, what good is he?
At this point, I've actually changed my mind. By all means, funnel money into hopeless causes. This community gets exactly what it deserves. I've dabbled in quite a few different conversational media such as forums/reddit/facebook and the like. The people responding to me have got to be at the absolute bottom in terms of intelligence. Jesus christ, not even 4chan was this bad. I believe I'm just going to go back to lurking and pirating. There's no hope for any kind of rational exchange here.
First of all i have to clarify that i don´t want to defend and 1 year+ update cycle and criticism is definetly right. And yes, there are devs out there that deserve more than they have, but why becoming that upset that you wish death on someone?
He has to have done some unspeakable things to you personally for being that bitter. And yeah, he hasn´t forced anyone to pledge and as far as i know he hasn´t come up with x release dates and then missed them? (please correct me if i am wrong on this because i am not 100% sure)
But right now to be honest i don´t know if i should laugh about your posts or have pity for you.
And because i don´t think this could develop in a normal conversation anymore, i am out.
