No offense but you are making stuff up about how you think a release should be done, when it doesn't work like that. I still have no idea what you are trying to say with all of this. There is absolutely nothing strange with the game being compiled on the same day as the release. Nothing.
None taken.

I agree with you that it's not a normal release cycle. Most developers out there are behind their schedules and when they finish a version, they want to push it out to patrons as soon as possible.

But I'll stand by what I said before.

Gumdrop is not a normal developer and if he wanted to troll people, I assume he had it ready at least a couple of days ahead of the release. His "game" doesn't even have many/any opportunities for bugs, so he had no reason to even fix them just before release.

Won't Happen Ever.
I wish somebody else just took it and remade it.

Maybe I'm stupid or missed an earlier conversation. All I hear is that you think there is something off with the game being compiled that late. But how could it possibly mean anything, and what are you suggesting it could mean? Could you spell it out for me?

I don't know Italian, did anyone listen to the woman reading to confirm what it actually is? Is it original content or some audiobook?

Got a leak on his releases

Prologue: Piano Game
Part I: Violin Game
Part II: Bass Game
Part III: Cello Game

This is what he has envisioned all along for DF. To build an Orchestra Game.
Your leak might be incorrect. We know what the prologue is, but then:
Part I: Violin Game
Part II: Harpsichord Game
Part III: Cello Game
After all, it's called DUAL family, so it's only fitting there would be two families of instruments, no?

Assumption: Gumdrop was lying out of his ass in his gumdropgames.net/new/ post from December (i.e.: didn't hire any team, wasn't at all interested in completing or retelling the game)
Therefore, we're taking DFX at face value. It's a troll release, he wanted to drop a bomb and get people to cancel. The "/dfx/" website he set up is just hastily slapped together in order to drive the point home:
Doing a final compilation and upload on the morning of the release carries some risk of not making the deadline.
So he's Gumdrop, he missed a lot of self imposed deadlines in the past, big deal, right?
Not really. He didn't want to miss it this time because if he did and dropped DFX a day or two late, people might hope that he's still working on the game and only slapped this together as a sort of an elaborate joke, but is still really working on the game.

However, there's an alternative explanation which is not very convincing, but here it is:
Alternative assumption: Gumdrop was completely sincere throughout 2020, including the "/new/" post and wouldn't complete the game as it is, he hired a team which he hoped would complete it for him.
So the team delivered, but a rogue developer never sent a complete release to Gumdrop, only showcased the game as an online version in the browser. Still, Gumdrop is convinced that he now has a game to sell, so he's happy and pays the developer to compile and upload it and post in on his website. Gumdrop hands him the login credentials to the site. That developer now holds the actual game for ransom, uploads the troll "DFX" release and locks Gumdrop out.
It will take a while to get sorted out, and Gumdrop will either have to pay up or lose all patrons, and so on, because people are not happy with DFX.
It's not convincing, but people probably hold out hope precisely because it might remotely be true.

Dude, that's nonsense. You're either trolling or lost in fantasy land. He compiled the game one final time. That's all. End of story.

*shrug*

I'm not trolling, I'm not lost in fantasy land. I guess I just looked for a hidden meaning where there wasn't one. That's all. End of story.

Nigerian princes must consider this guy a god.
man, Scamdrop is taking the Nigerian relatively simple scam model to a completely different level. Scamdrop is breaking new grounds in the field of scamming and is proving true innovation. Just by observing how scamdrop has been operating over the last 3+ years I have learned so much about how little is needed to get people to give scamdrop their money. An evil mix of psychological games of desires, hope, eloquent posts, giving just enough to help them carry on to stay and pay. It's amazing that even after the prologue piano fiasco, people (Patrons) are still going out of their way to even defend scamdrop, refusing to see the obvious... Stockholm's syndrome is a part of the explanation but not the whole? We need a psychology major to explain this better.

not easy task since scammy has intellectual properties for this.
Is he really gonna care once he stops getting money and no one wants to give him money?

If you like this game, at least wait until gumdrop fucks off and steal it like he stole thousands

I know, I pointed it out before, like a year ago.

But Gumdrop's ownership of these characters only extends so far and the premise of the game is not original in any way to make it protected.
Obviously, just taking Act I Part I-IX and continuing where Gumdrop left off would be straight copyright infringement, so a remake would be required.

It's obvious a lot of people are after the visuals as much as characterization and storyline depth, and that's the easy part.

Obligatory: I am not a lawyer, but it's possible that remaking the game with the same character models could be considered a parody which is protected speech. I don't know DAZ, but I suppose Gumdrop didn't customize the models too much, in which case it could also be argued that it's not possible to avoid resemblance between two digital models which were customized from the same base form.

I don't know US copyright law, but as far as I understand it, if he didn't register his characters with USPTO and his game with the LOC and if he abandoned the game (as can be demonstrated) and doesn't fight infringement, it seems possible that there's no real risk in remaking the game.

(International copyright law might come into equation here if Gumdrop decides it's worth his time and money to fight infringement in an international arbitrage court, but I kind of doubt he'd risk going public with his claims since it would make his personal details public, too.)

Although it could be 100% a troll, there is something legitimately CREEPY about this update. Feels like it belongs on nexpo or /x/. It's cursed. The opening scared the shit out of me with the neon skeleton.

Possible that gumdrop has slowly lost his mind and is full-tier schizo and/or crystal meth addict. If it wasn't a scam it would be a good piece of performance art.

I just found out that the game will only be released this Thursday for those that give the guy $20 a month. Can one of you who are a part of that group upload the download file/update in this thread. Much thanks in advance to whoever uploads the download link here :)
Edited due to some error on my part:

I don't think you will have much luck requesting the update here, since the release on the 26th of Feb is for Tier 4 Patrons (T4), which costs $20 USD. The next release -for the same update-, comes on the 26th of March and is the one for Tier 2 Patrons (T2), which is $5 USD.
