Sigh. Not "now". It was already set to abandoned months ago (about a year too late).
Reason? Because it's effectively abandoned. Gumdrop showed no proof of work for the last two years. No gameplay previews, no CGI. He may claim he's working on it, but in the last two years, bigger games were started and finished on a much tighter budget.
fr34ky: No reason to believe that he doesn't work or make money any other way. In most of the world, earning $80k-$120k would be better than you could hope for in any career. But I think gumdrop is an English native speaker, which leaves UK, Ireland, Canada or USA as his home. In most of those, outside of large cities, it's very good money. But even in middle-sized cities, let alone large ones, this kind of money is only so-so.

And although this may be due to a COVID-19 (we see similar trend for ICSTOR, GDS and others), the situation is worrying. We can see that two posts per month are not enough anymore. If he does nothing in the coming months, the game will be totally doomed before the end of the year (by this I mean a fall below 300-400 patrons). Which would be a little bit surprising, because it still has great potential of milking people, and only the reckless person (or the one with some morality) would don't take the opportunity of milking more money from it.
So, if he ever intends to release Part X, he must do it this year (or in January 2021 at the latest), or it will be too late (barely profitable).

Yeah, the asshat is masking revenue from this month and based on his previous stats, although he had high-paying patrons, they were not liking or commenting $5, $12 or $20 posts much, which means we can't infer the number of patrons from their activity.

We'll see. He rebounded from worse a year ago (his patron daily dropped to 637 in April 2019) and soldiered on for a year without any release, so it's not impossible that it will happen again.
I sincerely hope not, but I expect that indeed, he will release something this year. I don't think it will be May, but I do think he's working on the game and will release it sometime in June or July.
Whether he'll go on milking people after that or get hard to work on Act II and Act III is anyone's guess. The smart money is on he'll sit on his laurels if he can get back to 1,000+ patrons.

The way it should have been finished, you mean like what? There's no plot outline and no plans for drama or conflict you can expect.
If you want just the sex scenes, the renders are here in this thread.
If you want a complete visual novel, then even assuming Act II and Act III are to be shorter (five-seven parts each), it's still a much bigger investment in time than anyone will make, especially for no profit whatsoever due to the looming threat of copyright infringement.

The best we can hope for is for this game to die and for somebody to do a remake with the same sort of a slow burn story that gumdrop teased everyone with.

I won't comment about discord since I'm not his patron, but he's active on patreon and annoyingly, he knows how to game the system. As of April, he set his revenue to hidden.

I wonder if gumdrop has been following this thread and noticed that we were discussing his patron count (which can't be hidden) and his income and making some unflattering comments.
(I know if I were a creator, I'd definitely follow as many discussions about my game as possible, so I think it's possible gumdrop is reading this.)

What's unfortunate, Graphtreon vastly underestimates creator's earnings if they hide revenue. They estimate gumdrop's revenue is around $2K-$5K:

By the way, considering how much energy gumdrop is spending on maintaining this ruse, he could have finished this game by now.
I got into Magic the Gathering in the 7th edition and I just recalled the flavor text for Prodigal Sorcerer in it. Really fits: He wastes his amazing talents on proving how amazing he really is.

You're right that he received way too much money for his work and that he's one of the people who soured patronage as a method of financing games, and I'm certainly not going to defend him, but I don't think you're entirely correct.

I mean, he doesn't need to release a completed game with triple the content. Gumdrop already announced that the game is going to be split into three acts and only the third one will have actual sexual content. Assuming he keeps the ten-part-per-act format, this means another 21 releases before the game is actually completed.

Will he release anything this year? If he doesn't, he'll lose all his patrons in a few months. If he releases anything, he'll keep patrons and start regaining them. If he likes the money stream, he has to release something.
In fact, not only do I think that he'll release part 10 of act 1 this year, I think that he'll start working on act 2 and release at least one part of it, maybe more.
The guy may be an greedy lazy asshole, but don't forget that he did release nine parts of Dual Family, so he knows how to code using RenPy, how to write a story and how to render graphics. He's not incompetent, he's lazy.

On the other hand, you could be right because between August 2018 and April 2019, he went from 1039 patrons to 674 (on the first, then stayed at or below 704 patrons all of April), then dipped to 637 on the 1st of May, but rebounded to 958 patrons in September 2019 without releasing literally anything. It's April 2020, and he only dropped to 688 on the first and has 709 patrons at the moment.
So without doing anything, he kept the same revenue for a year. So sure, it might happen again this year. But it would depend on his patrons being idiots or Patreon didn't change the way they process membership/patronage statistics for over three years and still show non-paying patrons as active (doubtful, since there would be no dips on the first of every month).

Hi. I downloaded the game for the first time but I can't get the storyline started. When it asks me to choose "father" or "son" he doesn't let me confirm my choice (clicking on the green circle doesn't happen). Does anyone know how to solve the problem?
