VN Ren'Py Completed Dusklight Manor [Final] [Daniels K]

I applaud Daniels K for the effort, but I'm starting to feel like he's on a bicycle struggling to balance a piano on the handlebars. There's this top-level story — a thread running through the last three games (including this one) about an otherworldly being trying to gain enough power (through worshipers and/or manipulation) to rise to a level of power she once had but has since lost. She's tied to lust and fear to an extent, making manipulation all the easier.

Lancaster Boarding House, Pine Falls, and now Dusklight Manor each have their own stories, of course. The stories on their own might be easier to write (including the endings that seem to be a bit problematic for the dev), but the need to tie everything in each game's story back to this overarching plot seems to cause Daniels K a lot of problems.

Perhaps the top-level plot should have been fleshed out (much more) completely before beginning the series of games. That would somewhat dictate the types of things that could happen in each game — helping maintain consistency within each game's story while also making ties to the high-level story a lot more solid. It's like baking a cake without a pan: things run on their own and often don't end up making a very pleasant presentation.

I'm not going to say Oceanlab's VNs aren't good because I like them also, but you seriously cannot compare production of both works compared to works by DanielsK. How can you really compare working on 2 VNs, one with an update last October (6 months ago), and the others last update in Jan (3 months ago)., with a developer that has constantly put out a monthly release for years? Just because YOU don't like his VNs, doesn't mean he doesn't work hard on them. I personally like most of them, but just like you that is my opinion.


As far as Braindrop goes, he is putting every other developer to shame with updates, hopefully he won't burn himself out doing this though, because I love WVM also.

My original comment was a response to the "DanielsK is the MOST HARD-WORKING," I did not say I disliked DanielsK's VN I'd say they are ok nor did I say DanielsK was lazy or isn't hard-working. I mentioned other devs as more hard-working cause look at the popular non-overrated devs BADIK, BAR, COBD, etc., and of course the top completed games (those that are remembered fondly by many) just feels more substantial even the on progress VNs felt more satisfying, DanielsK VN ending are not satisfying and gives off a rushed attempt of an ending.

Can someone pass along the msg "If we wanna listen to crappy music, we wil put on something our self and Voices do NOT belong on the same track as music!! I mean wtf? There is 3 diferent tracks, but for some reason some DEVS, continue to annoy people, by putting the voices with the crappy music NO ONE want's to listen to... I mean wtf? you put 3 different settings in the game, but mix them up in one..." or 2 of them up in one... But ofc if you don't know the differnce between music and voices, it makes sense...

Yes Ik lol but it gets on my nerves to see it and hear it, more and more now in games... and they ALL got the same 3 options! Music, Sound and Voice, but they doon't know how to seperate them? I mean c'mon on now...?
and NO I can't unpluck the speakers, since music and voices are mixed together!
I wanna hear the voices!! But not the Devs, fav music list! They should become a DJ then, if they like it so much

Edit: They are forcing people to listen to their crappy music taste and thats NOT why I'm here!! I would go on youtube, or somewhere else, if I wanna listen to music!! It's the same with people putting crappy mini-games in their porn game... I say go make crappy Tetris games then!! But some people just enjoy forcing crap down your thorat!!! But I'm tired of it!!
So yes it's a rant from me and I'm gonna keep on going, untill people the Devs. get it in their heads!! I understand why some do it, with the music and mini-games, to make it less boring... But I say, USE more time on the game or story or sex scenes instead... Other vice they are wasting time on completely useless stuff, to bring onto this site!

Unless this game ends up different from Daniels K's past games, you will eventually need to choose one girl (the orgies in Pine Falls don't really count).

As a DanielsK fan, I think right now he's currently working like this. Has an idea for a story, makes it... but then he has/tries top an update each month, doesn't want to blueball people so he makes sexy CGs... problem is, too much girls to deal with. Eventually the plot get entangled and he has no idea where to go with the story, which started interesting but got along the way for the works he puts delievering CGs. Pine Falls is the perfect example of a story stuck on the prologue because he cant move forward doing so much work to appeal all the fans of all the girls, every month. He does this until he dreams of another story, and thats when he starts sloppying on the previous one and rushing towards the end, without nothing being explained. I was enjoy Lancaster, but the story end came out of nowhere, Pine Falls literally stuck on the same formula every update and nothing really moving ever since the MC got into Pine Falls, even season 2 is literally the same thing, even with more girls... I dont know about this one since I've not played it yet, but somehow I think its going on the same direction. DanielsK should really deliever the updates in 2 or 3 months and think carefully how to progress the storyline, instead of making a plot nd then the story revolving aroung the MC going house to house fucking the girls, trying to move the plot on the last minute... only to the start of the next update being back to the same formula

It already has that feel of having a weird story and getting straight into a fuck fest with a lot of Lizzie so far. However, I did enjoy getting to know about Lola my only surprise is we didn't get any further with her after taking her top off. Lemon looks great I'm guessing it won't be long till we have her.

I can see this going the same way as Pine Falls. So many women demanding so much. At least the characters are more defined than in PF and are quite different. The quality of the renders is very good and the story is intriguing but lets hope the updates do progress.
