But overall, amazing game!! I enjoyed it and looking forward to more updates!
To answer your spoiler question, to get Liv's sisterly side, when you visit her in the medbay choose the following options: "Put your hand on my head", and then "Feels like family". You should see a "This action will have consequences" alert, and that unlocks the achievement in the stats screen. If you're looking at code/variables, this dialog path sets the following:

$ liv_event = "sisterly"
$ lu_liv_sis == True
$ liv_bio_entries.append("She sees [MCName] as the little brother she never had… which maybe makes the way she dotes on him just a little more complicated than it should be.")

You can also quickly confirm it's been set by just looking at Liv's bio change during this scene.

Hey everyone!

We’re currently working on a hotfix for Chapter 1 – Version 0.15.

This update will address various bugs, fix some dialogue issues, and update the Codex for better world-building clarity.

We're also making a key change to the chapter’s ending: The old final scene will be replaced with a new one that better reflects our commitment to the harem theme of the game moving forward.

The update will be live soon, so stay tuned, and as always, thank you so much for your support!

— AADev

Waste opportunity for not feeding them to monsters or killed by some exterminator robot, but it is what it is.
Agreed, could've been fun to drag them along a bit. Airlock accident also an opportunity.. :ROFLMAO: (I don't see the 'humor' tag though..)

LongJumpingLion369 the Follow & Support Us links on your itch.io page are borked.
Still not fixed. (Sloppy )

I also disagree with characterizing the feedback as a ‘knee-jerk reaction’ of fear regarding male competition. I believe many fans share a concern about project stagnation – that an overly complex narrative could lead to delays and ultimately, a stalled game. Focusing on a streamlined core is a smart move.

Hearing that the devs are now more focused and optimistic about the project is genuinely encouraging.

This confirms it, the change is 100% part of their damage control and what they say about not complicating the story or whatever is just posthoc rationalizing.

Hopefully they only make these kinds of changes in the early stages and don't end up being the kinds of devs who let receptiion dictate all their decisions. Writing by committee rarely works

Well, that sucks.

Sad when devs get cold feet and cave in. This seemed like an interesting story, but if the dev is going to give in every time someone complains, then this is going to blow. It's never good to let players dictate the direction of your story.

There was nothing wrong with other guys joining the crew. Especially since those guys had important roles on the ship. I mean heck, your roommate was the pilot (the short blonde guy)! Now what? All you had to do was just make them more concerned about their job than hooking up with the girls. Other males can exist without it being NTR. Plus, this would have given the MC some male companionship for some enjoyable banter down the line.

Just... sad when a dev does that.
Easy make them female, they can do the jobs just as well

I don't know if this already has been posted, but...

Has been already decided, let's just get over it.
Excellent move.

at least we can focus on the girls stories and the girls body of course and not too pay much attention to the man competition or something like that

It's a shame they couldn't think of a way to go through with that. Those types of 'challenge' games are fun. Whether there's vanilla routes, or if I'm not interested in certain LIs I don't mind rivals going after them.

The way they're handling the situation would seem silly if the initial screen time lasted longer than what has been shown. Though also yeah like others have said, other games exist with guy NPCs where you can still whore out your MC with the LIs/side chicks.

I'm sure the game could still do fine. I only checked out this game for the redhead, and curly-haired chicks.
The dev also mentioned in the discord that it wasn't an accident that the guys only appeared in 1 render at the very end. That was deliberate because he was already thinking of removing them. Doing it that way makes it very easy to take them out if they decided to.

Yes, I’m working on changing for the end of Chapter 1.
It still fits the situation and plot, that’s why I originally introduced the male characters at the very end, they can be put in and out, anytime.
I wonder if they'll be able to think of something by the time they make their next game, if that ever happens.
To give context to those who still have doubts,

The developer announced the game as a "Sci-fi Space Harem Visual novel" [...]
It's quite the blunder not revealing the rivalry from the start.

An interesting Easter egg I found...the title song is called "Echoes of 2990" in the game files, and there is actually a similarly named file/song in the main audio path called "Echoes of 1985" that is strangely not used yet in the game. Listening to it, the style is distinctly New Wave/80's (they did a great job with the instruments and production to really capture an authentic 80's sound), and it's similar in structure to the main menu song. Both songs are also written in the key of D/Bm. However, the melodies are different, so it's not an alternate version of the awesome "2990" main menu piece, which was honestly what I thought I would hear when I stumbled across it.

Not sure what the existence of this file means, but I thought I'd share the small discovery with the community. There are already some references in the story to old Twentieth Century tech with the CRT TV, so it wouldn't be surprising if there were some plans to use this 80's-themed song in a future scene I guess. Or it could just be an extra piece of music for inquisitive fans to find and enjoy hearing.

Anyway, to see and listen to this song, just run UnRen (I recommend UnRen-forall to work with this game) and choose option 1 (Extract RPA Packages). After that finishes, there will be a new folder created in the game subfolder called "audio", and that's where you'll find the "Echoes of 1985" audio file.

With eight main characters already existing (MC and seven LI's), plus Elara as a possible extra LI, along with two antagonists (Riven and that electrodick guy), there are already eleven relatively important characters to follow in total. And I'm thinking there will likely be more antagonists on the Andromeda side of the wormhole. Oh, I guess we should also mention that one of the LI's has dual personalities. I've heard some good arguments that there should be at most seven important/main characters in a story (ST:TNG found its stride when it went from eight to seven characters by killing off Tasha Yar). So the story is already quite full I think, and editing these five unneeded characters out to streamline the narrative branching is objectively the right decision.

And while you may think that it's easy to keep up the passion for a project like this, the number of abandoned games on this site that started off with big ambitions – a large set of characters, huge worldbuilding, complex character personalities and motivations, complicated point systems for different personality traits or sexual kinks, etc – is unfortunately far too numerous to count. The KISS principle has proven itself time and time again to be an absolute and undeniable law in the world of AVN's.

I wonder if the idea that there was "overwhelming negative feedback" might be some type of recency bias on your part? That's not how I remember the last week or so. Almost all of the vitriol I read was people arguing over tag definitions, or others arguing that they each knew better what the dev was planning/hiding from us (mind readers were everywhere). Not really productive comments there, and many of the debates belonged in other threads. To be honest there have been far larger blowups over a game's sudden change in direction (that I won't even mention years later, or else they'll probably quickly derail this thread and give the mods extra work removing more posts), so let's keep this all in some perspective. The drama I saw was honestly minimal and quite easily ignored.

Also, please keep in mind that a lot of activist-minded people exist online who absolutely love to troll these forums. Especially when the game is one that is popular with guys. You may be able to spot a few of them when they seriously try to talk about "Heteronormativity", "The Evil Patriarchy", etc, anywhere in their post history. So take at least half of the: "We're all just terrified of other guys stealing our waifu's!" claims with a huge grain of salt. Most of the "negative feedback" you're seeing is just hilariously disingenuous attempts at trolling.

Lastly, if you read the dev's communication, how this change is going to play out has been pretty much finalized. A 0.15 hotfix is coming shortly to fix bugs in the initial release, and in that version the five new characters will simply be removed. So they will never exist, and will not need to be killed off, left behind, or anything.

As to the function those five might have served in the story, that's pretty easy to resolve from what I can see. The crew are traveling to the Andromeda Galaxy through a wormhole. You don't really need a dedicated pilot for that trip. A galaxy is a pretty big target after all, so it's practically impossible to miss. :ROFLMAO: The AI can handle that simple flight, or Talia/Veronica can reveal she has some minimal piloting skills. Amina already takes care of the science/engineering side of things, so no need for an extra "quantum analyst". Talia and the MC can handle the security/fighting when that is needed. And that's it. Problem solved.

How do I get Liv's "sisterly side"? I tried every dialogue option in the medbay.

While I do think you could keep the removed characters as story characters I also believe it is the only effective way to shut up both sides otherwise it would probably come up again and again and again and again...

...secondary or tertiary characters who can don't need a bunch of different relationship states or a character arc.
This argument works against itself, because initially you are arguing that these five will not be essential to the core story. Well, at that point, I would simply ask: then why keep them around? Editors remove unneeded scenes – or in rare cases entire chapters – from novels because they know doing so improves the story. That's all that is happening here.

What is sneaky though is that at the same time you subtly shift your stance to suggest that some of these five were going to be very important to the story. Well, in the event that these characters are/were going to have an impact (like many imagine with a Weyland-Yutani type character and subsequent massive conspiracy and betrayal unfolding), then that storyline takes a significant amount of setup and execution to make work. And introducing a new crewmate character as the narrative device for this would not be recommended. There are far better ways to achieve the "Evil, Inc." or the more campy "Big Evil Corp" trope that make far more efficient use of the dev's limited time. In that case, KISS once again prevails.

But any more of this and it approaches the "I'm the better mind reader of what the dev planned!" bickering that rightfully got nuked from this thread, so let's stop there.

Yeah man, we're sending a ship over to a new galaxy where they will be on their own, they definitely do not need a pilot.
I don't think most people realize just how empty space is. Two galaxies can "collide" with each other and the odds that two stars will hit each other is practically zero. And even if we rule out direct collisions, the chances of just gravitational perturbations on entire planetary systems are extremely low, with only marginal effects over large timescales in even those rare cases.

Navigating space using gravitational "slingshots" and other techniques can be complicated, yes, but once a powerful enough drive is invented for a spaceship, there is very little piloting required because there is virtually nothing to run into in space. Granted, orbiting or landing on a planet can still be tricky, but flying through space to approach any celestial object is child's play. Of course, if there is some civilization and a large trade system on the other side of the wormhole, there will be a need for novel decision-making when docking with, maneuvering through, etc, space infrastructure. Or perhaps in fighting space battles. However, we don't know if those are going to be an element of this story yet, and we still have better options for those situations by giving the MC or the LI's piloting skills and more to do in the story. Plus it's also a great opportunity for the MC's precog skills to shine.

For example, imagine an anxious LI with only basic piloting training, who has to suddenly deal with a life-or-death fight with an enemy vessel. And then the MC helps with suggestions because he has foreseen which evasive maneuvers will end in failure. That sounds like a great chance for meaningful interactions – developing trust, camaraderie, etc – between the main characters, doesn't it?

I understand that the removal of characters may feel like a lost opportunity, but people have to realize in storytelling that the unneeded addition of new characters also creates important lost opportunities to explore situations with the main cast. And the best advice I've heard for writers is to keep their roster of characters small, and to trust that the main cast's lives and interactions will be popular enough on their own to satisfy an audience.

The harem setting seems rich in content, but it is actually very boring, which is a sign of laziness on the part of the developer. If you want to develop a game that is closer to reality and has connotations, there must be more characters of both sexes to create more dramatic plots.
Why does a story have to be "closer to reality" to be good? Are you saying that "escapist fiction" should not be allowed to exist? Is this not just your own personal tastes being unfairly elevated to the level of dictating artistic "value"?
