Now that someone mentioned Sonia, many jp players says that she is the worst option for starting the game. I choosed her because I kinda liked her megaman stage select choice.
Sonia is by far the best long-term investment (Aigura Link is such a stupid skill if you get that far) and very versatile in early game. I didn't regret having her as first pick even for a second.
I think I stumbled on Vanessa and Vena in the first 10 minutes, so I don't see the issue with having only 2 people at the start.

On the other hand, an avid fan of the circle can quickly breeze through with Touju & Tsuzura. As these players understand the elements/gameplay.
At the cost of limited equipment option early game.
And those ones I never got figured out. Don't think I found any of the kinouchi particularly useful, they neither deal the most damage, nor have the best support (and status effect skills suck ass)

My end game party didn't have Sonia, even though I started with her. I am more of a debuff player so I liked to use Wanda, even though she needs a lot of mp restore item to be viable as a debuffer in boss battles.
My travelling party always had Jane because she has a drop bonus passive, but she was benched in the 3 most difficult battles (final boss in the deep world and the 2 version of the post game boss).
For damage dealer I used Vanessa until before the postgame, when I replaced her with Sedna because she is easier to use as a debuffer, althugh her hp and def is very low (she was severly underleveled).

My issue with Sonia is that she doesn't have a reliable way to restore tp in battle (outside is easy, just go to an easy battle and use her tp restore per kill skill). Wanda only needs 10 tp to use her debuff skill and the tp passive restore accessory came too late for me.

The fun thing about this game is that every character is viable, is just a matter of taste. I can imagine Sonia viability if I gave her the tp restore accsesory to her. Using her heals when tp is low and using Aihiga or Pilgrim link depending on the situation when her tp is high (having 100+ special is good for her because of how those 2 skills work).

I didn't get Wanda until very late so I only ran her for a short while and only saw a couple of her EX skills, can't comment on that. For debuffs I mostly used Silvie, can't I imagine anyone being better her on that front.

I don't even remember if I got any accessories for restoring TP. I just decided "I have all those snow flowers and brilliant roses, and the game is gonna end soon, might as well splurge".

The nice thing about Wanda is that she can debuff every stat with a single skill. It costs a lot of tp, but is nice to throw that skill whenever the enemy manages to clear all their debuff.
Sylvie's issue is that she is kind of useless in every battle except hard ones and this game only has 2 or 3 hard battles. The good thing is that she doesn't need high stats to do her job so being underleveled is fine for her.
For endgame, I liked Sedna because she can spam her debuff all the time while doing damage if you give her the mp restore accessory. For buff, Vena was fine for me, she is quite good at buffing, although she doesn't give the inspiration buff (Sylvie and Wanda can cover her in that front).

I'm quite pleased by the different chibi animation whenever character is doing something in battle, whether it be attacking, being attacked, defending, afflicted by abnormal status, low hp, or passed out.
Adds realism to the game :ROFLMAO:

Guess it's time to ACTUALLY finish this game and doing NG+.
Got 2 save actually, one with Sonia and another with Touju & Tsuzura.
Continue with Sonia then

Still, what the game doesn't explain is the party position, 3 frontliner and 2 rear line. (or I miss the explanation somewhere)
From the past game, frontliner will be targeted more and have bonus stats? (kinda forget actually)
I don't experiment much about this but this game doesn't have particular party position mechanic right?

Some characters have innate passives that make them more or less likely to be targeted. Maybe you're just putting your supports in the last two slots? I don't think position in the part affects targeting (and I'd expect it to be mentioned in the fairy tutorial at least)

Yeah I love Tatan's Ex form, shame that we don't get to see the chibi animation in character portrait

Basically it doesn't have that kind of game mechanics right? Doesn't matter what slot, in return characters have inner ability/passive.
This is one of the issue I talk about with the circle, why they didn't polish the game much further, it would be interesting if it have those game mechanics, including the enemies too ofc.

Like, if we can't target rear line enemy if they have frontliner unless the player party have ranged attacker or magic oriented character (or the skill stated able to target "All"). And automatically have bonus stats/passive depending on position/class.
This rule applies to both side (Foe or Allies).

But wait, does past game of this circle have that kind of mechanics tho? I believe I do, but kinda vague. They added "Ex form" or Form change in this game, it does makes it interesting but having above mentioned mechanics would be impressive and engaging.

Gotta check every previous game to make sure tho. This one is certain at least (from past game experience):
  • Frontliner will be targeted more often, Melee specialist will benefit in frontline unless the class/character specified otherwise, can't target rear line/will have reduced acc targeting rear line(?)
  • Rear line is less targeted, have bonus in defense (both phys/M.def), Melee placed at the rear will have reduced damage output & lower acc unless specified otherwise by class/character
  • Skill that target "All" able to hit anywhere without penalty, Ranged damage/Magic Attack doesn't have penalty but will have bonus damage output if placed at Rear line

Seriously, gotta check past game ASAP to confirm wololo~

What is the piece of armour required to complete this? Because I'm also unsure of where to get the scales from the picture below.

Yes. It's the ornament artisan.
thank you I've found it! and just one last question (not trying to be a bother ) but when I went to the northern limit there was a fire and wind sort of portal, do you know how to get past it? pretty sure it's the last thing I've got to do

I have max fame but I can't seem to trigger these quests.
Do you need a special key item or something? Is this "post-game"?
I'm just before the last(?) fight in the fifth fort and wanted to know if these were doable before progressing.

For the desert quest you need to have Wanda recruited.
For the tentacles, you need bath conversations (after finishing Tatan's and [dancer girl's] quests)

There's a path deeper into the area, after doing things there you'll get to come back to these elemental barriers and go through

Where can I get the lewd fish?
In the beach, do the minigame. Then go to the cave where Sylvie and Thyme were raped by the fish in Sylvie chapter. There will be an option to collect tthem.
I don't remember whether between the minigame and the option to collect the fish being avaliable requires some other conversations.
