I don't know why, but with this game the paying patrons (for whom we are grateful) are always real quick on posting the game releases - but they really sleep in on the preview images.
Not a huge mystery though, Nickfifa captions his patreon-only images with a strong indication of the content, so...

Try the basic things: retry or load an earlier save.
Also: Dont speed through the text! Tends to break/freeze a lot of games.
