I don't think it would be true even if the game was complete. I don't think anyone actually enjoys going through a game multiple times, skipping until they hit a choice before skipping again.I agree. It sounds like there will be some non-sex related uses (strength, fighting, peacemaking), but in the modern AVN climate of episodic content it doesn't make a ton of sense to do anything but cheat whenever a new episode drops. If the game was complete, sure, multiple playthroughs would seem like the way to go. But when we're getting everything piecemeal like this, missing a scene or two can halve the playtime you get.
I wouldn't specifically blame WickedWare here either. Game designers have added various forms of NG+ content (and really, branching choices in certain forms can easily turn into NG+), and the players have all been baited into thinking that replaying the same game is a good thing. A discussion about this isn't really something that is relevant to the thread, but this kind of design decision, when paired with choices, really results in two different things - you can have the branch near the start, in which case you have a completely different game/story, or you have it near the end of the game. In both of these two cases, the correct choice is to save before the branch before you play it again. The second case is often worse because it is easy to add a locked branch that requires you to play the game again.
There aren't that many game developers who are able to add in multiple branches successfully without reusing old content. Skills would require multiple branches in order to have a meaningful effect on the game, but even good developers struggle with more than two branches. I hope WickedWare will be able to figure things out, because skills look cool right now but there really isn't anything to justify their use.
