Seems like an interesting setting here but also extremely ambitious, this is going to be a lot of work for the dev to main all these potential paths when they begin to branch out.
I’m very much aware of how ambitious this project is for a solo dev’s first AVN. But, that’s how I like it. Things already get very complicated by the end of Chapter 1 (2 patches from now) and I’m still coming back to that scene for rewrites or adjustments. It is a lot of work, but I find it fun. I have also cut back on a lot of ideas for fear of things getting out of control. It’s important to find a balance on what you can realistically handle. All I can say for now is: so far, so good.
Agreed, With only 24 members on their patreon currently, I worry that particularly if the Dev is a lone wolf or even smaller group, they will quickly discover that the work is not worth it for them.
That’s a valid concern, but I worked on this project for months while having 0 followers. The fact that now, by the time of the second release, I have any number of following makes this an even more satisfying hobby for me. I’m not making this project to get rich, I’m doing it because I find it fun.
Of course, it would be a dream to have the financial support to turn this into a full time job, but that’s extremely unlikely. So for now, I’ll continue to tackle this the same way that I have been doing it so far, depending on my available free time. With that being said, financial support is still a huge help for the continued improvement of this project. From paying for more mods/assets to maybe even one day helping me upgrade my hardware (which will mean better quality visuals, faster rendering time, etc.).
Bottom line, I’m satisfied with the current state of this project and I’m still very committed to finishing it one day.
