I think that's the biggest point for me. I've now seen a game where AI doesn't suck (albeit used in a very workaround/Ren'py character sprite way) in Canticle. AI *can* be used if consistent, smart and artistically done. The problem (and red flag) with Ergi is that very high quality renders were switched out for very low quality and effort AI art that wasn't even edited or quality control checked to make it look anything like the previous art in a lot of cases. It put the 'slop' in AI slop.

I also maintain that the switch in art should have been related to the patrons, so it didn't come as such an unwelcome surprise. In my opinion, there was a degree of dishonesty, protecting their cash flow, when the devs released chapter 9 art samples that were either recycled from unused earlier renders or hard to determine were AI generated.

In essence, they bait and switched us to an inferior product at the finish line. That was a choice. A series of choices. A pattern of dishonest behavior that makes me uncomfortable with throwing more money at them. I can't trust them to live up to their end of any other deals (projects/games) now and thus it feels like I'd be throwing away my money.

Are you NOT speculating? How do you know their new game WILL be good? In fact, what did I "speculating"? My previous post are all questions. I just said that as polite way to "Agree to disagree", but I guess fanboys can't take no as answer.

Literally in my comments I mentioned over and over again, and in this thread REPEATEDLY, the AI slop is a huge problem. And not once in my comment I ever said the future game will be GOOD! I literally said in a few comments up, the AI slop doesn't inspire much confidence for future game! Cite my comment that I said the future game will be good or imply so, I dare you.

I literally was the one who said that, and I still believe that, but that is not a fact, that is speculation that I made, in this thread! you can look it up!

The problem here is not me who refuse to listen to criticism (I think the future game won't be good as much as you do, only for different reason, which is not the narrative), but you who think just because I defended one good aspect of the game, therefore I defended the whole game, therefore a fanboy, and refuse to even comprehend what I said.

Canticle is really good. Like it's clearly made by AI, but it didn't strike you in a wrong way (Except maybe in some scenes), and honestly, they really nailed the concept of the gameplay/minigames in a way that is fun, but not overtly exhausting for the players.

If the artist's work in Ergi were replaced by this level of AI, I would not be opposed to it at all.

But when Chapter 8 depicts the main character's face drawn by a live artist and everyone has long since gotten used to it, and then in Chapter 9, the normal face is replaced with THIS (and this art has not been corrected even with the latest update)... Questions and indignation arise.

And I don't know how the backers felt, but it really doesn't make a good impression to invest so much in a new game when the last one has so many bugs.

It is a tragedy because the game's CG is quite well done all the way and to fall so near the end.
If the CG is only marginally good to begin with, not too many will be upset.
I like the scene where Britt and Borge smoking at the end of the prologue alot.

Hmm, it seems that the developer is going to turn the prequel into an interactive movie rather than a grind-based novel. That means we'll be watching a movie, making choices at certain moments and solving some puzzles.
There will be four main characters in the game, two boys and two girls: Viggo, Yingvi, Freya, and Loge. Each chapter will be dedicated to one of them as the main character.
Unlike Ergi, the game will feature six languages, which is great news, as English is not my native language and translators often struggled with the font in Ergi.

Also, FMV games are popular because of real human actors,
Movie / Anime / Cartoon are popular because they are framed by human,
Pure AI video AFAIK will be an inconsistent mess (the technology is not there yet).

FYI, That's just vertical slice (I assume it's from a trailer?), it doesn't represent "quality of the prequel", it's just there for marketing, especially given how disingenuous the dev is.
Don't be fooled by some "kinda nice" deepfake images.

But This is definitely not for me. If I want realistic Videos I will just go watch pornhub, if I want to play a porn game I don't want to watch some Deepfake AI videos

Hi! I am having an issue with the game. Someone probably already said something similar to this but there are 150 pages here and I don't think I could read every single post and i don't know if theres a search feature in the thread

I am new to the game, barely finished playing chapter 1 but I can't continue, the game is missing a lot of files or images, I can't access the quick travel because i get softlocked, I don't have the gallery becase it's apparenly a chapter 3 file and that folder is empty for some reason, when i try to play chapter 2 more or less five errors of "file not found" occur and i cant play at all, just a black screen.
I tried downloading old versions of the game in hopes of just copying the folders and replacing it but every folder is the same in the older versions too so I don't know what to do now

Just drag the contents of chapters 2-5 to the chapter 1 folder. Do the same with the following chapters.
The chapter 1 folder will always be your main folder.
