It removes all meaningful choices from a game. If you have a game where the only choice you have is the colour of the ice cream you order for example, that is something that should be considered as a kinetic novel. Completely unavoidable sex scenes is already something that a lot of F95 tends to dislike, and for good reason, and it makes even less sense in a game that has had some decent amount of choices in the earlier updates.
A visual novel isn't a game, a visual novel is literally a visual novel. Correct term would be visual novel software, as a game explicitely notes agency and interactivity.
EDIT- I also want to note that I think a lot of people are apprehensive about the precedence being set.
The Fiona scene is apparently unavoidable if you've interacted with her sexually before (I haven't played the update but that seems to be how it is), and that isn't exactly comforting, especially given the routes available and how they're written.
Imagine if you're interacting with an LI in a game and you decide to kiss, and two updates later you're unavoidably being spitroasted between her and her best friend or some shit without the ability to say no simply because of a choice you made several updates ago. This is a problem no matter how you look at it, even if it's something that the dev wants to do, it isn't exactly something that a lot people will be alright with.
Overall I thought the update was ok. I'm only interested in the siren route, so I expect smaller updates because of branching.
All in all a rollercoaster, which is one of the biggest upsides of this game.

The choice already exist to keep things on friends only terms with Fiona. The dev can't account for every people's desires, specially people on a pirate forum.
Hard disagree on that. This update was focused on the consequences of the choices in the previous update: sex between Ashe and Fiona or just a friendly sleepover; date night with Vanessa; flirting and sex with Lexi.
All those are direct consequences of what the players decided on update 0.4.
That is nowhere near a kinetic novel level.
There will be a public release in november but it already leaked here.

I like how the warning was given when 0.4 launched that you'd be put in certain routes based on choices and now people are complaining their choices put them on certain routes.

When they woke up and Ashe said Fiona looked beautiful, Fiona was shocked by her words and calmed down when she realized Ashe didn't mean it in a romantic way. And the kiss, it wasn't real kiss.
I agree a traditional kinetic novel has basically no choice. what I should say is certain parts of this feel very kinetic when they shouldn't, and then other parts have great choices it's a bit jarring.

I'm finding it curious all this talk about Ashe getting bottomed by Fiona, since I didn't get that scene. In fact, during the recap, it explicitly states they've decided to just remain platonic friends. Which is precisely how I see their relationship.
Not sure what choices I made for the difference, but the choices are there.

Then reset the path, add some dialogue "Yeah this wasn't going to work, let's just go back to being friends". Badabing badaboom your player is back to the path where she isn't romantically or sexually involved with Fiona. The dev is writing that path anyway. Just need a little bridge back to it.
None of that implies you get no further choice as a player. Just because you ate my pussy once, doesn't mean you get to then fuck my pussy the next time we meet. That is not how that works in any sane reality.
Can we stop ignoring the actual complaint and just address it?
The complaint isn't that you're on the route, the complaint is that you made a choice in a previous episode that now results in a full on sex scene where that character takes your vaginal virginity with zero possibility for the player to say "no, I don't actually want that" or "yes, please fill my dripping wet pussy with your thick throbbing girl cock and make me scream and cream myself".

From what I've gathered, as I haven't played the update, the "choice" is whether or not you've decided to do anything sexual with Fiona before, which was like update 2 or something? Update 3? It's been like a year since, if not more, so I can't fully recall.
What's baffling people is basically how one choice made some updates ago is now removing choice in the future, because it's such a jarring thing compared to other games aswell.
It's like deciding to buy some chicken for dinner instead of the usual beef, contract salmonella and simply go "well, it's the consequence of my action, BETTER JUST DIE THEN" instead of y'know.. choosing not death? The lack of choice where there should be one is what's jarring, just because someone went "oh alright" to a LI previously doesn't mean that they're now essentially free-use for that character nor should they be.

If the dev thought this scene was important, we wouldn't have gotten the option to deny Fiona anything beforehand either. There's quite clearly a scene that ISN'T sex as several people have gotten that, meaning that it isn't the same type of deal as Zoey.
Stop trying to imply that.
