Great update. I think complaints about the three route system wouldn't be as prevalent if they were just unlabelled soft-routes. The fact that they're labelled and defined is causing people to over-analyse, IMO. That being said, can't comment on any inconsistency with the CQ route because I have no interest in playing it.
"Unlabelled soft-routes" is just another name for the system we had before. Most scenes that had variations were already about some degree of Ashe being more dominant, or more submissive, or voyeur/cuck. The problem is that they changed
from "unlabelled soft-routes" to "pick red, green or blue to decide what flavor you're gonna get for the rest of the game".
Losing the ability to mix and match different dynamics with different characters is the main loss from the change of systems, but it also generally sucks for the feeling of tailoring Ashe's character with your choices. They don't matter for that anymore, you already locked in on either Siren/Kitten/Cuckqueen and no other choice you make going forward can change that.
But aside from those design problems, it also causes the issue you mention that now a lot of people will complain that Ashe isn't "dominant enough" in their siren route. It creates expectations that don't match the story the dev is telling, I'm really struggling to see any benefits to the adoption of this route-split with how it was done and how the game is being developed.
But outside of me thinking the route split is a terrible game design choice, I do agree that the update was really good. The story is as well written as always.
