VN - Ren'Py - Eternum [v0.7.5 Public] [Caribdis]

This is Top tier, doesn't get much better. Game is fantastic by any metric. Great characters, great story, great sound, etc. You would be doing a disservice to yourself to not give this game a try if you're a fan of the genre. Trying to find some negative and honestly can't. On top of being a great game it has a great developer. Updates are consistent and fairly timely. 5 out 5

The renders are amazing, the characters are satisfying and pretty, and the story is entertaining enough, but it's more a VN with eventual porn than an porn VN. The story is extremely slow burn, in fact, I can't recall any game slower with the sexual content than this one. In 6~7 hours of gameplay I just saw two sexual scenes, both with secondary characters, the second one including a blowjob from a main girl, but still no proper sex with her.

So if you don't care for an EXTREMELY slow burn game, you'll have some hours of fun. The game is not for me though, that's why I can't give it 5 stars, but I recognize the good job and I recommend everyone to give it a try.

It's a really good game, but regarderless let's dive into what's good and what's less good.

Good:
-Plot: linear but articulate enough that you'll be waiting for a new story event (almost) as much as for a spicy scene

-Girls: decently varied (though... we'll talk about it in the cons), great personalities and stories, and of course they're all hot as fuck

-Gameplay: it's almost nonexistent except for a few QTEs. Choices are not frequent but they are actually meaningful.

-Narrative: the graphics and audio are exceptionally well used to deliver great, well paced narrative, intense when it needs to be, quick and light when you just need to get through a section, funny and hype when possible.
And of course the sex scenes are absolutely great.

-Humor: it has its moments, some are really good, some are kinda ok, but it's never jarring or boring.

Less good:
-Girls: all girls are white and american, though technically one is british I think. Within those limits, you do find a good variety of looks, styles and personalities, but it feels... somewhat limitating. Even the fact that you travel between worlds all the time (spoiler I guess) doesn't make them less white and americans, sadly. There's one elf I guess?

-Plain(?) looks: it's not like they're all the same but... I feel that look wise they could have... more daring looks. I get that they always need new assets for the new outfits but there's so little care to nail polish and makeup (which I think have a huge kink audience) that it feels unbecoming of such a great game

-Plain(?) kinks: although some of the planned kinks are not vanilla, and the sex scenes are definitely still great, I hope some footjobs and other stuff is planned.

Its one of the highest rated games on this site for a reason. An absolute tier defining title which sets a benchmark for other games to possibly just catch up.

+Caribdis is a master storyteller. The lore, world building is extremely immersive. The dialogues reads natural and the sense of humour is pleasantly subtle. I can't stress this enough - reading this VN gives you the satisfaction of a dialogue relatability which is missing in most of the titles out here.
+ Amazing renders and art. This adds to the overall immersion of the VN. The details of a 'parallel reality' that the dev is trying to build has been very well thought and produced. Tbf, I was never a fan of HS models, but I don't mind that here
+ Likeable and well defined characters. All the LIs have a very thought out and unique personality. They have unique bodies, unique mannerisms and a fleshed out establishment. None of them feel random or just forced into. (Again a rarity!!)
+ Amazing H scenes and animations. the lewds are craftfully animated. Caribdis is incredibly technical with the frames. Nailed down the angles and expressions to the T.

- Not a major downside, but I'd personally prefer more impactful choices. This is more of a linear VN and unless you are landsliding of a character - you'll not miss any of the scenes. There isn't much of a branching.

TLDR: If you haven't played this yet and fishing out on the reviews page for a heads up - download it now! Eternum is THAT game you're in this site for.

A game deserving its reputation. Banger story. Crazy animation. Not just the sex scenes, ALL the animations including the perfect scene transitions are paired with music that fits perfectly. There is even some REALLY good voice acting in some parts (most of the time there is no voice acting though).

Before I begin my review, I would like to promise Caribdis that if I ever find myself fortunate enough to become a millionaire
I will absolutely without second thoughts be honored to give you millions of dollars.

Eternum means so much to me. I really don't think I will ever stop craving more of it. In fact, it's one of the things I'm looking forward to the most right now. And seeing how many emotions I felt, how deeply immersed I was, and how real and strong each feeling and memory I experienced, I often needed to remind myself that it's not real to stop hurting from knowing that one day it will have a last update, I just can't imagine how empty I will feel, as if it has emotions that can't be felt in real life.

I don't know if the final update will satisfy my hunger for more... I'm practically starving for the endless stories
that can be told in that universe and for the H-scenes that can happen with each girl.
I REALLY, really hope you know that each girl needs at least 15 H-scenes and like 5 threesomes/foursomes.
I'm sure it's entirely possible while maintaining the brilliant flow of storytelling and build-up before them.
Their looks, personalities, depth, and how alive they feel to me and how I am emotionally invested in each relationship
makes me believe even if in some reality each one gets 50 H-scenes, I would still want more.
I know they are really hard to create; I'm just a little too obsessed and for sure not the only one :3

Finally, here is how I feel about each aspect of Eternum

Graphics/Renders
Creative, flawless, and absolutely stunning, truly priceless art.

Humor
Made me laugh out loud, giggle, chuckle, and smile. It's so freaking good.

Animations
Pinnacle of perfection they fit the scenes so well that sometimes I feel like
I am in a movie, even better, I feel like I'm truly there. They are very captivating, engaging, and immersive.

Soundtracks/effects and Songs
Can easily make me cry, happy, on the edge of my seat, scared, or surprised in a matter of seconds. Can't imagine if there are better choices; it's just a perfect selection, some even among the best I ever listened to.

Story-line/Writing/Dialogue/Plot-Twists
Oh man, where do I start... Eternum's story-line didn't just exceed all my expectations; it even set new ones. It's one of,
if not the most exciting/entertaining story I've experienced. The amount of goosebumps moments is beyond impressive as well.
The infinite potential and possibilities in this universe are beyond my imagination.
Exceptional writing that feels so real, genius world-building, jaw-dropping plot twists, and the best cliffhangers ever.
And finally,
The best dialogues I could've possibly imagined; so satisfying, fits every character's personality unbelievably well. Every detail about it is just so creative, and what affects me the most is how it blends with facial expressions, body language, inner thoughts, the background sounds or songs; these things make the dialogues/scenes feel immersive as much as possible. Truly a work of art.

The Main Girls
How?? How is it possible to make them this sexy and gorgeous?? They have everything looks/perfect bodies, character development, personality, depth and heartwarming flashbacks. They are just the absolute best possible models.
The euphoria I feel when I look at any of them is indescribable.
Their sexiness/cuteness literally broke me mentally.
Even their personalities fits their looks.. its just pure perfection.
And the decision to make it a harem game is the best decision ever.
They do not need branches; it's impossible to choose one over the other,
and it feels unbelievably good that you can be with all of them.

H-Scenes
You seem to know everything that makes an H-scene unimaginably hot and alive, like Everything.
Incredible care for every single little detail in every H-scene.
THE ANIMATIONS! Camera/Eye movements, angles, and the Physics!
The dynamic music, the sounds, and the dirty talk during the scene.
How uniquely unexpected and, at the same time, natural each scene can be.
How the dialogue, their reactions, the flow of the scene, etc., is a reflection of their personality.
How the intensity of the animations gradually increases.
How each scene time length is perfect! ( every single extra second would be appreciated tho ♡ )
I also love how that I don't have to touch my mouse during H-scenes or it's just a few necessary choices/clicks.
And finally, combining everything I've mentioned with the BUILD-UP you get
THE MOST EXCITING, THE SEXIEST, THE HOTTEST, AND WITHOUT ANY DOUBT THE BEST H-SCENES EVER.

Seriously, the build-up truly makes the H-scenes, on top of how unworldly and perfect they are, a million times better.
It's mind-blowing to me how dopamine is affected by how much I'm emotionally connected to a character, and you know the best ways to exactly do that. For example their attractiveness, facial expressions, body language, poses, the slow bonding, the flow of each relationship, the depth of their personalities, the writing/dialogue, and the music choices in their scenes, etc..

I mean it when I say that if I could have a device that erases my memory of Eternum's H-scenes
I would replay the game countless times by having two notes beside me one saying,
'This will be the best experience of your life,' and the other saying,
'After you finish the game, use this device to relive the experience over and over again.
That might sound a bit too much, but I genuinely loved every second of them every moment was pure Ecstasy.
And I appreciate every second that went into their creation, just as much as I love/appreciate everything else about the game.

Please make 15 H-scenes for each girl or more.. pleeease.. no pressure tho ♡

Side Note
The story of Eternum feels like an experience that is so well-made to the point where I don't feel like I want to affect how the story goes much. It's a once in a lifetime experience that should be experienced how the dev intended. It doesn't need 50 endings/branches, which I believe allows Caribdis to focus on what makes this game a piece of art.
I'm so lucky to be born in this era and play Eternum. I just wish it never ends or gets a sequel.
No game has ever felt more alive to me than this.

Eternum is a must play AVN. The story is very captivating, renders are good I mean god-tier level. Characters are interesting and you get that they planned thoughtfully. The audience gets that they have layers, not just static renders.

I played this game twice. The first one was impeccable. The second run was not that amazing because I knew the story and everything. That is not something bad. It was planned like that and that's how we should analyze this game.

4/5. Not 5/5 because there are some wasted potentials in details. I'm just nitpicking about it, you should definitely play this masterpiece if you haven't already.

My review from the start of the game to 0.6 update:

I went in expecting a similar story to their previous work "Once In a Lifetime". The premise is entirely different, but the sort of themes and atmosphere that their previous game had are still sort of here. It's a really fun feel-good story, with some horror elements sprinkled in once in a while. This time, the story feels a little more mysterious and keeps your intrigue for most of the run time. The characters are amazing. There's an equal amount of screen time between the entire cast and nobody feels shoe-horned in or left out of their group dynamic.

There's another affection meter for each of the girls, which is always welcome. I just wish there were a little more consequence/benefits to them. But they're fine as is as well. Each of the girls have pretty stunning models with a wide variety of outfits and body types. Even the more petite characters are extremely sensual, which is something I'm always super appreciative of. Their personalities are pretty distinctive and they all have their own worries/motivations. The story feels like it revolves around each of the characters, instead of having it the other way around.

Gameplay is pretty much a visual novel style with multiple choice answers. As of 0.6, I think the game will take you around 6-10 hours if you're trying to thoroughly read the dialogue and watching all of the scenes play out.

The story goes:
MC gets a scholarship to go to school in a private school in US. He moves in to his babysitter's home alongside his childhood friend. School starts, he makes friends here and there, but also discovers Eternum - something akin to an online MMO that lets you live out all your craziest fantasies. Wild shit happens, and he's told to seek out treasure to gain control of Eternum and to also discover the truth behind it.

I love the MC and how he's a playful but sincere guy. Everyone in the cast feels a little wacky and playful too, so the character dynamics between them and the MC feel very natural. I also think that the concept of Eternum is pretty good since it allows the MC to just travel to different themes and settings. Like one minute you're in a pharaoh's tomb in the middle of the desert and the next you're practicing magic in the middle of the woods.

Each update is huge too. Going by the walkthrough, you can take up to 1-2 hours playing through each of these. So I'm grateful for the steady drip of content. The game gets like 9/10 for me. I love everything about it, but I'm a little biased in disliking jumpscares and dreadful stuff. If you can handle that, it's probably a 10/10.

Without a doubt my favourite game by a very wide margin.

The visuals are great - all of the LIs are attractive, and the animations are top tier.

The story is engaging, the characters are interesting and likeable. And wow is this game funny! Literal laughing out loud funny.

For me it's a OK game, but not to give 5 stars.

Graphic/Art
It's good to be 3D renders from a game engine . Good variety of environments . But you get the feeling all girls look little similar each to other. And at body level they don't differ too much either.

History
A good story inspired by films/anime but good at the end, and include jokes that sometimes are fun moments another a little meh but it's fine. It's more annoying that the excuse to girls love MC is because MC is handsome and this is a harem game.

Gameplay
It's quasi-linear . There aren't routes that leads you at certain point where you treat a girl in a way or other. Only you can get more o less scenes if you choose the correct answer in the dialogue. In addition in sex scenes are too little options.

One of the best WEG's I've played, if not the best. When you can enjoy the story without even needing the erotic/romance elements in it, you know it's a good game. Manages to introduce every character as being unique and lovable in their own right, alongside a gripping and engaging mystery that will have you on the edge of your seat.

This is so damn charming and genuinely fun!
High production value. Almost every render is spot-on and it's very own a piece of art. The girls are so cute and lovable. The story is immersive and highly entertaining. There are heart-warming and badass moments. The whole idea and concept is so well executed. It's astonishing how a dedicated person can get so incredibly much out of a Honey Select engine. My deepest respect.

Character design is marelous and varied. There is a girl for every taste I'd guess. Chances are, you will have a hard time deciding which lady's your favorite in terms of looks and personality. And as far as I've seen, you don't even have to pick. They are all beautiful and captivating in their own way.

This is one of those very rare and precious games I can think of that really suck you in and make you want so see more, experience more. In my eyes Eternum plays among the big ones, the very best. I am truly fond of it.

Thus I'd warmly recommend checking it out. As it might just work it's magic on you too.

Honestly have to say, even though i usually don't go for more anime style VN's, this has quickly become one of my all time favorites i had played so far. Tried playing a number after finishing this one... so far it has ruined every other game for me. It has everything. Story line, comedy, drama, suspense, sci-fi. I love the hs2 graphics, I'm serious when I say it has ruined everything else for me... I cannot find any others like it after 3 days now of searching.

What can I say that hasn't already been said. It's the consistently the top rated title on the site, and for good reason. If you're into AVNs, you need to play Eternum. Period.

The biggest nitpick I could make is that I wish it were a little less vanilla, but that's on me. Cardibis' previous title, Once in a Lifetime, is quite possibly my favorite AVN of all time, and leaned quite heavily into pregnancy and incest. I totally get and respect the attempt at making something with broader appeal.

But yeah, if you're a filthy degen like me, go check out their previous title as well. You'll even catch the occasional Easter Egg while playing Eternum.

HOLY..... never a big fan of HS renders, since the backgrounds (or maps) tire my eyes pretty easily. But Eternum is really something. It blew my expectation. The render, the writing, the everything.
The interface are amazing. To some it may be something minor or insignificant . But to me it shows how much effort and details are being poured.
I giggled a lot because of the jokes, I love the references, nothing feels forced and everything fits the situation very well.
The story got me hooked. Sci-fi and fantasy themes aren't really my favorites, as bad writers often fill plot holes using the freedom of the theme to make the story makes more sense. But as far as I experienced Eternum, none.
The music is immersive. Enjoyed every part of it. I had a moment where I looked for music player in the UI because I want to know the track title and the artist.
The characters have their own charm. Even the minor ones feel like they deserve a side story for them. And for the main girls, they have their personalities, even if some of them are cliches but they're really enjoyable. I have my type, believe me, and I didn't have any favorite girl(s), but after the last H-scene... I guess Alex has the lead now.
Overall, I had a really really fun time experiencing Eternum. If there's anything lacking... that would be content xd. I want more. Love every part of it.

Where can i even begin... This game is an absolute must play for everyone and their mother, the story is enthralling, the characters are more than appealing, the overall design is immaculate and it helps to give you a sense of the creators vision, truly a masterpiece, i have never yet had the need to jump to someones patreon and pledge immediately, but i will now, and if the creator sees this, WE NEED A SEQUEL!!!!
