Well, they are. But the way Cari is currently writing Eternum is that a significant chunk of the story is intrinsically tied to an LI's route, which is different compared to other games where solo routes and harem routes have a unique path that players could choose to follow. Here, if you lose one route, you pretty much lock yourself out of certain parts of the story, so going harem is pretty much the optimal path if you want to get the full story experience.

Not to mention Cari is likely to make the harem route canon anyway like what he did in OIAL, so.../shrugs

Which Cari has rectified in this game by making every member of the harem essential to the plot. No Jasmine-type characters here (where an LI really has no story significance save for being related to one of the important characters in the story), no undercooked characters like Aiko or Iris (/grits his teeth and tries to contain his anger upon remembering how much wasted potential Iris was). Everyone gets to take part in the story this time around-

.../sigh Yes, Chang. That also includes you.

Yeah, the way Caribdis treated some LI in OILT was the biggest mistake he made. I mean, don't get me wrong I loved every Li in OILT (yeah even Jasmine :devilish:) but you can't feel the same attachment to them. Iris is a wasted potentiel, Aiko appear in the story way too late and Jasmine doesn't even know what's going on.
Another flaw in the writting in OILT was the fact that the MC could be in relationship with every LI without having to tell them he was having an "Harem" ( Judie and Lauren found out during their conversation and Carla guessed the whole thing). I do hope in Eternum that won't be the case, the LI won't miraculousely accept that.
However, with the way things go in Eternum, each LI having a real impact on the story and being integrated into the story tells me that won't be the case but who knows except Caribdis himself

Considering that this game is gunning for a story length that's "between 12 to 20 updates," I'm sure there's plenty of time for the harem members to find out that Orion really is building a harem...and address it with the ones involved and slowly come to terms with that.

Harem is less realistic, more like a lil escapist fantasy that satisfies all your urges but doesn't leave good closure. A solo route feels more complete and in touch with reality, less diversification too. Don't get me wrong, I support polyamour, it's just that going for more than 2-3 girls makes you more aware of the "porny" nature of the story xD
Are you aware that harem is a real thing, and that you can find multiple occurrences of harems in the history of humanity, there are even entire cultures that take that into account and have laws and customs governing it ? How is that make it less realistic ?

Yeh yeh, makes sense xD I can't say from experience though, I've never had a problem with cheating and none of my friends had one either. Also cheating is not a problem of "monogamy" per se, it's a problem of not knowing when to end a relationship. Sure, polyamour takes care of that problem, but it's not like you can just decide you don't want a solo relationship. I could never accept a third wheel (or be a third wheel) in a relationship.
I said everyone i've known of. i have few friends but i've known thousands of ppl. thousands of ppl are more representative of society than our few buddies.
In my opinion we are polygamous by nature and instinct therefore trying to go against biological imperatives is futile and more importantly monogamy is not even a good idea. pp cheat because they desire many but force themselves to fit a bourgeois idea of family that is a construct and completely unnatural.
Having sex with a couple doesn't make one less of a person. Third wheeling is a matter of priorities in relationships not a matter importance as ppl. I don't think of ppl as less or more and I try to have partners that are already poly cause we are usually already on the same page.

This game is not realistic though nor is it meant to be realistic. It is clearly written to be a harem game from the very beginning - the game's design reflects that. If you just go for one girl, the only thing that happens is you end up skipping most of the game's content. If you are looking for realism I would recommend looking elsewhere. I would recommend something like STWA: Unbroken if you are looking for something a bit more realistic. I have also heard good things about Summer's Gone although I have not played it yet.

The reason I say this is because it is written as a lighthearted and fun harem game with a harem in mind and you should not be setting incorrect expectations. Realism is not on the dev's priority list nor should it be. Not every game needs to be realistic and you can have both harem games that require suspension of disbelief and realistic games. More diversity is always a good thing and I think if you are in it for a realistic experience you will only get disappointed by this game.

Thus why I was asking about solo endings.

Yeah I understand. The reason I made my post is because I would not be surprised if they are not very well fleshed out since:

1. There are so many girls and making super detailed endings for them all will be far too time consuming especially for the non-canon ending. This is not like JVNs/dating sims where each girl has a proper path with proper endings. I think the solo endings will be very brief and short because that is just the more practical thing to do.
2. The game is written with a harem ending in mind.

If you want to do solo girl routes go for it. But just set the right expectations and dont be disappointed if you dont get what you are looking for.

I think I have the liberty to be disappointed since I'm a human being, but I understand your point xD And no, I do not expect a super fleshed out ending for everyone, I just prefer a more focused one. But I don't believe he will make a clumsy harem ending like in OIALT, he has the tools to pull it off and make it conclusive for every character. I just don't think I can be completely satisfied by it. Personal tastes I guess xD

I'd bet the no LI ending has significantly more content than any of the solo endings, going off Once in a Lifetime

"Here lies Orion the Maidenless"

There is only one girl and one scene but i can't unlock it. Need help
I hate to bring you bad news but that scene is with Alex, and in your picture, she is grayed out meaning that you can't have any 'romance' relationships with her in the future. You will have to backtrack through the game to find out what dialogue you may have said that made her feelings towards neutral now.

That's a scene with Alex. It occurs at the reception at the mansion near the end of v0.4. You have to be on her path and she has to be at the party with you. You meet her in the garden outside the mansion. I don't remember all of the boxes you have to tick to get there, but if you ever rejected her or treated her poorly/indifferently in the past (didn't stand up for her, etc.), then you won't have enough points to get it.

Man ... people are chatty today.

To add to the noise, it always surprises me how many people will play a game rooted in Fantasy/Sci-Fi (not to mention XXX themed) and complain that some elements aren't "realistic" ...

It's okay if you want to play to your own tastes, but not even the solo routes are "realistic" in a game like this.
