What that planning scene mostly established is that at least three of the girls just love to munch a muffin. ;)
Yeah, but it also established that Orion doesn't shy away from snapping at the girls when focusing on the more important matters. That behavior with Nova this patch definitely didn't come out from nowhere. The only difference being that it's worse this patch due to Orion's bad behavior and tendencies now amplified and coming out of the woodwork.

I don't immediately recall the details of the Nova incident, i.e. exactly how he treated her badly, but I'll say this: no one is perfect, almost everyone acts like an ass at times. What matters most is how they deal with being called on it.

Orion has been becoming more arrogant as he gains power and achievement. We may not have seen the last of him acting in ways that make us question his character. But underneath he is still a good person and will not go down the dark path.

You have to remember that the player is not the MC. The player gets more information. So regarding the incident with Nova, the player knew that the meeting would be very special for her, but MC did not know that.

I remember nothing.

(about that particular incident)

I think what he's referring to is that we as players see Nova's POV where she frets and plans for the One Piece date to make sure it's absolutely perfect only for Annie to torpedo that by giving her the news of the finale's delay. Orion doesn't see that (and only hears some details about it from her mother), so he doesn't completely understand that the date means THAT much to her (especially since we see that she was planning to confess and punch out her v-card if things went well).

Quite true. Sometimes, it takes a little hindsight to figure out you were acting like a regular turd. Still, as Dorfnutter has pointed out (and meticulously illustrated), I'd say MC's growing arrogance, to the point of near-impudence, has been integrated into the plot since early on. He has been defined from the start by his wille zur macht, for good and bad, and it's no wonder that, having experienced some success in Eternum and in love, he's got a big head. I'd expect that being gut shot as a result of this hubris is the crisis that leads to a narrative 'pinch point' in which the MC begins to reassess his priorities. Maybe even has some kind of epiphany about the nature of Eternum itself. My guess is he 'logs on' to Eternum (without equipment) and experiences some kind of out-of-time purgatory, reflecting on the behaviour which led him here, before being healed somehow. Don't think Penny will be the one to do it, though, as Doorknocker suggest. The player may choose to have her learn destructive magic, rather than restorative magic, at the end of the Warthogs Triwizard event. It's also technically possible to leave the server without completing the event.

Walkthrough states that Restoration should be picked though, which makes sense given that we already have a Destruction mage who's already having self-esteem issues from not being able to show off. :HideThePain:

Sure. But to quote you to yourself:

Can't have any major plot arc tied to Penny's magical specialization, since some men just want to watch the word burn.

I didn't say that she'll be of any use to Orion's current predicament (that's Doorknocker's answer), only that Restoration magic being the right choice has been hinted at in her dialogue prior to getting to Warthogs.

If anything though, it could likely bite her in the ass during a combat moment very late in the game where a pure restoration build will be required. And while I don't think it would lead to Orion dying (again), it's possible that it would lead to someone in the party dying instead.

Exactly :) I mean, in the end the MC can make a dumb choice (or the player can make it for the MC), but I dont think that there is any issue with how he is written. He just knows less than the person playing the game.

Oh I could totally see Annie going full on Nuclear Gandhi and trying to blow up a whole Server with some kind of Ultra-level Explosion Magic if someone steals her Limelight again. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
And if Annie could use her destructive magical abilities in the real world, she'd probably use the equivalent of several Tsar bombas against the junkie that shot her beloved (and would've denied her of a sexy time in the upcoming update). :giggle::giggle::devilish::devilish:

Waaaait. If she did that and everyone essentially just gets disconnected after a bright white light, wouldn't noone know what exactly happened? So when Annie says she did that everyone else would take it as a joke and still think she didn't do anything? God I can imagine precisely how that happens and I hope it does :KEK:

Good lord! Do you want the next thing that happens to be that she obliterates the entirety of Eternum? Because I can see it going there.
