IDK... Even though the game's development has been ongoing longer than usual, the ending of version 7.5 felt kinda abrupt. I mean, it'd take quite the entrance to justify how the “death” of the main character might symbolize a new perspective on the bond between Eternum's and Real Life's world. Yeah, the lack of frequent updates is something to deal with, but as long as the quality remains...
Can you completely separate the art from the artist? I can't unfortunately. Now that I see the dev has started milking, it will color my experience of the game even though I'm not his Patreon supporter myself. I do support other games, so maybe I'm also a bit empathetic with those paying every month and having to wait so long for an update.

How has he been milking?

Increasing time between releases gets the dev more money. People first accept that 8 months is normal, then it's 1 year, then it's more than 1 year. We've seen this progression before, e.g. with BaDIK.
The quality of renders and the creation of animations scenes, takes more time!

Don't forget about it, dude, sitting on the couch and complaining on a pirate site "where is update?", I can too, but I'm sometimes patient, especially when the developers keep us informed about the development. ;):)

When I mentioned quality, I'm not referring myself only to the game's characters' design. Also, I didn't see anywhere how the "artist" progress has been in comparison to the rest of the game's development, so if you have that privileged information, you're more than free to share.

Look, little guy, I don’t think Caridibis is milking. That said, I recommend you to not dick ride a dev. I’ve been around here for many years, and I’ve seen your attitude in fans of games like Ecchi Sensei and milfy city. Don’t get too attached to a dev to defend them no matter what, it usually doesn’t end well. I insist, this is the second-best game on this site, and the dev isn’t milking it, but you newbies shouldn’t act like that with normal complaints of oher users.

Imagine accusing the dev of milking when he himself had repeatedly stated in his Progress Reports and on Discord that the longer dev times are for making sure the quality of the game is better and that if he didn't give a shit about it he would just release the game on a faster sched but the renders would be 0.1 level (where the quality ranged from awesome to "...eh, it's passable").

And that's not to mention the unforeseen issues he encountered while working on the game.

So no, deliberately making things better does not equate to milking, no matter how well you spin it.

No offense, but the "pirate site" argument is weak because the devs get a lot of exposure from it. I have bought A LOT of games I've first played on this site. I also became a Patreon supporter for some games that aren't being sold for one reason or another. So I feel I do have the right to say that progressively increasing release time is a red flag we've all seen before. Milking and quality are not mutually exclusive.

Firstly, I'm not a little guy.

Secondly, if you don't count this forum and when I registered, I spent more time in different forums and trust some developers quite well.

Thirdly, I don't really care if you're old here or some long-timer, but you don't have to show off in front of a newbie or anyone else.
Here, everyone has the right to express their opinion, whether to trust the developers or not is up to us users to decide, come what may.

The main thing is that the developers get in touch or give us progress on development reports. And finally, I'm good friends with Caribdis and even follow him on Discord, I have no doubts about his development, not to mention that I've been following him for 2 years.

I didn't touch anyone and didn't judge, but to consider a developer a "milker" when he gives a report on development every time? That's too much.
So people who are subbed to Cari (like MAGO-DAG there) and have some knowledge of his dev process should keep mum whenever someone accuses him of "milking," is that what you're saying?

I kindly disagree with the idea that milking and giving reports are mutually exclusive (Fresh Women comes to mind).
Anyway it's not like I haven't ever defended someone out of sheer loyalty, so I get it.

He isn't milking. I don't care how long you need to wait for an update; long update times are NOT related to milking.

The key thing here is transparency. Caribdis have been fully transparent on the long, and slightly increasing, wait time between updates. He fulfills all deadlines more or less when supposed to, and gives full disclosure months in advance if there is a possibility that he will not make the deadline.

With the full disclosure, it is up to each and every one of us to decide for ourselfs if this is reasonable, and if we want to support this game or not.

If you want a great visual novel with solid plot and a shorter wait time, I'd recommend Selebus's . I support him on subscribestar, and like Carbdis, he is also completely transparent on his updates. He has already posted a good chunk of the 2025 schedule, nearly monthly updates, and has a track record that delivers in time with a deviation of 1-2 days for the past 2 years or so.

Milking is when the devs are not transparent. It's when they lie, when they say a deadline and completely blow it by months, when they promise content and push out updates that don't deliver said content.

A great example is Komisari (HHG) vs MoolahMilk (Deviant Anomolies). Komisari has been fully transparent that update wait time is going to be years upon years; I don't like that so I don't support. But he is fully transparent. That ain't milking.

MoolahMilk on the other hand said he'll get an update by Jan 2024, and has gone off the radar since then. That's milking.
