VN Ren'Py Eternum [v0.8.5 Public] [Caribdis]

I've put off this game for so long waiting for it to be finished before I play it, but recently I've really been itching to try it! Any opinions on if it's worth it to wait or just play what's already out?

You'll probably be waiting at least three years, then.

Play it, then suffer with the rest of us waiting for the next update.

I'm presently going back through it - not line for line for the whole thing, but definitely for some of my favorite scenes - just so I can make episode end saves on a basic route. And I'm enjoying that much more than the newly released updates of other VNs I follow.

Once you've played it, let us know and then we'll all start recruiting you for the congregations of the various goddesses of Eternum.

Don't get me wrong, people aren't talking because they want to be dicks to you. Actually, I think people in this thread in general are cool, with some minor exceptions of course. I think no reasonable person here excepts you to read several pages of the thread, but please at least read the last page, since the answer was already there. People don't mind to give an answer, but at least search for it.

Anyway, hopefully you don't feel ressentful and enjoy your game. But I beg you, wether you have a favorite girl or not, please don't ask Dorfnutter for photoshops.

Well rejoice, my brain is currently in BSOD mode after it saw that Eternum rip-off a few days ago. Something about being "out-cursed" or shit. Might give me some relative peace for the moment in terms of getting cursed edit ideas.

I just realized I don't know (or forgot) what BSOD means (unless it's a game title).

BSOD = Blue Screen of Death. You know, that screen that pops up whenever your PC just can't even anymore for some reason and decides to go "fuck this shit, I'm out."

Me: The OIAL harem's children will likely be in ages 10-13 during the time Eternum takes place. So add 18 to that number and they'll be in their 30s so I don't see how-

I must protest the color choice of poop brown for annie's name. She should be purple.

A bit of necromancy here, but I ran across this looking for something else (bagel or brownies ) and I have a solution if you haven't already found one. And if you have or already know this, well, it might help someone else.

If you go into the "script.rpy" file in the /game/ folder, you can redefine the color for the name. Annie is on line 306 and defined as such:

define a = Character('Annie', color="#FFCC33")​

The part I bolded and made green is the color code. You can find a color you like better here:

Make sure you grab the "#" and the six digit code of the color you want it to change to, substitute for the color code that's there now, and save the file. I've done it on VNs where the colors chosen by the Dev blended into the slides too much and too often. Just be careful - very subtle colors can get lost and be harder to see, but with the size and style of font Cari uses, that shouldn't be as big of an issue here.

You'll have to make the change each time the VN updates since Cari's original file will be in the updated download. If you've never opened one of these files, you can just right click on the file and tell it to open with "Notepad".

Very cool. Still have to remember to not delete it - I find that I'm less likely to have problems in a VN if I delete the old version completely and reinstall the new versions clean. I keep the old version on an external until I'm done playing the updated version, then delete and replace. But that's my process - your mileage may vary.
