People are encouraging the "emergency food" meme so much these days that I'm even scared the game will have cannibalism in the next updates.
Its just devs doing fun cameos as fanservice and/or advertising. The way a different dev decides to include a cameo in their game is not indicative of whats canon. So just take it for what it is. It is a simple and fun cameo because the devs know each other and are probably friends.
