I'm not exactly sure about the specific value, but sometimes one choice can instantly block a girl's path. If you've already finished the game and some gallery images are still greyed out, you’d better start over with a walkthrough

They shouldn't be greyed out, I think. The hearts don't seem to matter as far as I know. Just keep on each girls route (which generally means you get most of their hearts anyway) and it should be enough. Not sure if there might be a "good end" and a "better end" at some point that needs a certain minimum number of hearts or if there will be scenes or additions to scenes that require a certain minimum. As far as I know, we haven't seen anything like that yet.
(Or I always got all the hearts and have never seen any options greyed out

Eternum has the best of both worlds. Much as I personally hated the 'do, at least Orion's yee yee ass haircut in 0.1 to middle of 0.3 was a lot more unique as opposed to most HS2 protags looking like the dev just fiddled with the default male preset for a bit then called it a day.
