This branching would make no sense if it doesn’t affect anything. It will just give you a „shallower” relationship with the girl you didn’t pick.

Great game but i really hate the ambiguity regarding Alex and Penny's virginity. The dev tries so hard to keep it ambiguous by hinting that "Alex is waiting for her prince" and that Penny "Wouldn't do sex stuff for her career".
Honestly the pandering to the anti NTR crowd is just sad, Alex being sexually experienced is not a bad thing given her upbringing but dev had to pad it with "muh Prince" just to appease the hordes of anti NTR brigaders.

There are no real reasons to branch anything in Eternum imo. The whole point about harem games and a big appeal to Eternum is that you don't have to choose, you can have all the girls and see everything. So it could be incredibly frustrating to suddenly having to choose, even if it's just for a small section of the game and/or a lewd scene. Even worst so if you are unlucky and it happen to be: choose between your FAVGIRL1 vs FAVGIRL2. On top of that the amount of lewds is quite limited, 2 to 3 per update is not a lot (when the game gonna end, all the girls won't have a lot of scenes individually *sad emoji*) and unlocking a scene in the gallery is not the same imo, i'm not sure why but if it's not part of the playthrough it's just doesn’t feel the same.

A girl's past can and has triggered the anti-NTR brigade many times in f95zone and this game is no expection and given that Cari has explicitly kept the ambiguity in place for Alex (especially the "Muh Prince" thing) and Penny, there is good reason to suggest that he'd rather not stir the hornets nest.

If the two scenes in question are mutually exclusive, then that means Caribdis has almost doubled the amount of lewd scenes in their updates, but only "half" are visible per playthrough.
If the two scenes in question aren't mutually exclusive (both earnable within a singular playthrough), then there is no point in the branching.
This proposition hardly seems worth it in the end.
